Hi,
I have done a search on this already but still none the wiser, what is the reason for shadowing on some of my smile lines? Im using french welless tips btw?

Hi Debbie,

I think I know what your having trouble with, but could you just tell me...are you using a white tip & overlaying with pink/clear or are you also applying white powder to the tip?

Are you dragging the pink over the white too much hun?
Or is it the white powder that is shadowing? If so that could be your mix ratio.

I am applying white powder to the tip.x

Hi Hun,
Are you using white tips? If so - then no need to use white powder. When I use white tips I do a clear L & P overlay, or on the lovely coloured ones, depending on which colour I use clear or pink L & P overlay. I have some clients who love black tips- I do a clear l & p overlay, then a layer with some glitter in, ( I do this so when we take them off 3 weeks later, I do not have to file right down to natural nail plate to get rid of all the glitter), they look great. Baby pink works great with those too. Only probs are rebalance.........They usually have a new set. But on the white tips you then would use white for your rebalance, no shadow should be there as you are not on the edge of the white tip. Have fun playing with all different types. If you think of something new, ask a client if you can try something new on her at 1/2 price, they love that, and you get to have a go without having to try it out on your own nails........which is harder......and then others see what you can do. l
Lotsa luv x

Yes i am using white tips ,ive just convrted going back to tips ,i used to do sculpts but every time it came to infills some of the nails had broke, and i find now that i have hardly any breakages to face now that im doing tips, so at the moment i have been playing about on me own nails as to wether i prefer a clear overlay over the tips,or pink ,but i do prefer the white and pink ,so im hoping this is not the cause of the shadowing as this is the way i prefer to work, and it also gets me used to doing smile lines, when im spot on with them i will prob go over to clear tipsxxx:)

Hi Debbie,
Have you thought of using natural coloured tips? If you prefer pink & white l & p, you shouldn't get any shadowing with natural tips, I think to use white tips and get no shadow, you will have to be so precise on matching up to the white tip smile line. I could be wrong, but it's worth a try. I trained with NSI we were taught sculptured using a form and natural tips using pink & white l & p, that is what we had to do for our exam. I find natural tip with pink & white easier than a sculpt, but still try to keep up with my sculpt forms, don't want to get out of practise. Keep me updated, love to know how you get on, lotsa luv x

Is this on initial application or at rebalance?

Keep plugging away with your sculpts too, it's probably something really simple like form placement or the way you are applying your white, possibly too thin at the sides xxx

is it because your white powder is not as white as the white tips?

if so you would probably do better with some natural well less tips.

Sorry Debbie, I had to go - I had some bad news, my best friends mum has died unexpectedly, quite a shock.

Anyway, back to your shadowing....

What I wondered was - are you getting like a black/dark line along your smile line? I think this is becasue the white powdered smile line is almost exactly on the natural line and it does seem to do this, there's a name for it but I can't remember it. Move your smile higher when you rebalance.

If it's like a slight lighter type of shadow along the line, it could be that the pink is pulled across zone 1 and not butted up to it. I find if I sweep my smiles with my brush and tuck it in, then the pink buts upto and slightly under the tucked in ledge.
OMG, I hope I'm making sense and not sounding like a waffling pratt.

It is on initial application,i will try all the different things recommended, the reason why i use the white tips is to help me with a guide to the smile lines, maybe it is a disavantage to using these i will try and use natural tips and see if this makes a diffo.:|
Thanks for your repliesxxx
