Hi Geeks!

I'm a new member to this site but have been trawling through threads and find it sooo helpful!!

I did a acrylic 3 day course last year and have been practising and practising ever since. I must say it was a terrible course and I wish now I'd just invested the time and money and done a Creative course! Luckily for me my friend is Creative trained and has spent lots of time with me going over what I wasn't shown on the course and slowly but surely I'm gaining confidence in my nails! My main prob is that I think my nails look a boring shape.. quite flat! I want them to have that beautiful shape and curve to them - what am I doing wrong??

I'm such a perfectionist and I'm really getting annoyed with myself!

Any help/pointers would be greatly appreicated!!

Thanks! Lorna.x

Zone 2 is where your apex lies, if your applying product and then squishing it flat..then no apex.

Trying applying product in zone 2 gentle press..not too much to make it go flat though, the small presses to each side...once done very lightly bring over zone 1..then small amount in zone 3..again press lighly..then press left and right on the nail..finish by gentley bringing over zone 2..baddabing job done

Check out the tutorial section, it has some great articles about brush control written by geeg. The angle of your brush is what shapes the nail and creates the apex. Once you master your brush, you will start creating great looking nails that need less filing. It takes time, trust me, but it's worth the extra concentration during application!

Thanks ladies, I will try that out. I've also just bought Nail Class which I intend to start reading this evening!x

Get yourself onto the CND conversion class - you will not only get the knowledge, but confidence and success) Trust me :D

Reason - its best to get it right from the very start, rather than sitting there miserable about shapeless nails. You will be fine, like the rest of us. :D Good luck

As others have said it is about brush technique and product placement. However, you also need to have a good filing technique as well. If you get correct placement and a nice looking apex then over file on one side for example, you will not have a nice even looking nail with a good line of light!

I'm sure you know all this already but sometimes it is nice to have it confirmed
