I'm at my wits end, I tried all the combos that I know to get a blue thru layering..

Black pool and Negligee - nice, but more of a navy blue
Black pool x2 and purple purple x1 - just looks purple
Fedora x2 and purple purple x1 - just looks purple
asphalt x2 and purple purple x1 -- just looks purple

looked at fingerfixer's layering pics on FB and deanosnana's swatches but there's no vivid blue in there

getting nowhere fast... :-(

I'm afraid that you can't get a vivid blue without adding glitter or a pigment of some sort x

Blue is a primary colour and no amount of mixing or layering will make it which is why I can't wait for a shellac blue and yellow to layer with the reds to make any colour imaginable! I use a pigment powder that I got in hobbycraft made by snazzaroo (face paints etc) when I need a bright blue x

I have to say that I have used the Asphalt and Purple Purple, I find the grey tones down the purple tones (purple purple is a blue based colour anyway) and it turned out a nice vivid blue for me:

Let me know what you think

I agree theres s light purple edge but to look at it is blue.

That said I do long for a bottled blue shellac!

:)

i must be doing something wrong as it still looks purple? i'm now running out of colourpops as i've tried so many variations! gonna bite the bullet and try the blue mica powders that i bought weeks ago and forgot about (oops)

I doubt youre doing anything wrong, when compared to Purple Purple it looks alike still but the grey tones it down.

The pic is true to colour :)

the girls at creative in dublin posted a pic on their fb page. they used trotski and then put negligee on top .. it looked like a bright summery blue.

I thought shellac came out with a blue... Can you not get it in the UK? Or is it not quite the color you want?

No they haven't brought out a blue. Purple purple has blue shimmer in it and with some moniter and camera settings it actually looks more blue in the picture than true to real life.

You can make a gorgeous peacock blue by layering 2x purple purple ad 1x really thin layer of hotski I love it! one of my favourite colour combos.

I thought the same, but tried applying TWO coats of Negligee and it does make more of a blue.

See photos ( hotski is on the left)

even though it has made a 'blue' - i don't think i'll be using it much as it means applying 6 coats (including base and TC) which, in my experience results in premature lifting :-(

Hi hun

I got a nice blue with two coats purple purple and in inhibition layer i gently presses a small amount of blue mica powder and top coated.

I know its not layering but personally this is great alternative and costs next to nothing to do. Roll on additives aye!
