Hi I am in a dilema and dont know what to do so I am hoping for some advice from you experts.
At the moment I am using an Organic Facial range but I dont do very many infact I only have 1 regular  the products are ok but I wonder if I had a more proffessional range would I do more????

I noticed when I was doing gel nails I didn't do alot and then I changed to Bio Sculpture and now I am amazed at how many people want them because they are Bio Sculpture.

I have been reserching different Facial ranges for the last 2 years and I would like to go with Dermalogica but it is a lot to start up but if it brings in the clients for the Facials then I can justify it.

So what I am asking is do you think it would be woth it, in your past experiences have you noticed a bigger demand for facials by the products you invest in?????

Look forward to your replies xx

Without doubt a good skincare range will increase the number of facials you do & your retail, should it match the client's needs & should you promote it well enough. Most clients are brand savvy & don't want something they could make at home on their faces; they want a brand they can trust. However, make sure you know what your clients want in a range, i.e. pseudo-medical, aromatherapy etc etc. Also check the area isn't already saturated with that particular brand.

Hi ya,
I know what you mean, I'm currently looking into skin care ranges' and I was looking into dermalogica but it's the hugh opening order I'm scared about. You can spend the money and it's no gauntee it will be what your clients are looking for. There wasn't a salon offering dermalogica in my area but the last week someone has just introducted it in there salon.

I was thinking about an organic range but I'm not 100% sure of it,,, when you think it's natural and not many places offer organic range it just doesn't seem to get cleints interested.

Susan molyu don't seem to bad, not bad start up. Pckaging looks good.

I'm ringing round as many companies as possible. I'm starting to offer microdermabrasion soon so need a good range to go along side it.

I'm begining to think that right now the way things are that clients aren't interested in facials. I want something that finds into clients price range eg boots.

The facials I offer at the moment aren't a brand but I offer a facial for problem skins that just tagert that, antiaging, all concerns so I don't understand why more people don't go for it, they are quick enough to ask for advice.

I'm hoping to get a brand in and push it more. Have skincare days etc. But scared to spend the money on dermalogica incase it doesn't get clients interested. I did get an information pack on dermalogica but they didn't give me any prices, which wasn't helpful, I wanted to look at how expensive it is for clients as that's the most important.

Good luck

Kerry

You can check the salon rrp prices in my website (the skincare one) there is also write ups about all the products and you can look at the full retail range.

I cannot speak of your current brand because I have no experience with it but with the dermalogica i do. We took it on in our salon and was like you very afraid of the investment but it really has paid off. With dermalogica you get great support and their classes are second to none. If you take on the brand im sure they will do a launch evening for you to help you get your clients excited about it etc. If you ever feel like you are losing interest in it you just have to go to attend a class and you will leave highly motivated.
They key to having any brand is how you feel about it, if you love it your clients will too. Maybe you should talk to your current skincare company and explain the situation, Im sure they would love to keep you on board so will help you educate your clients about it. Organic is all clients want at the moment so there is a window there for you to educate them on on the benefits of your product.
Can you tell us which brand you are using?

Thanks for your quick replies, where I live we do have alot of salons with every skin care you can think of - Decleor, Darphin, Collin, MD formulations, Elemis, Aveda, Guinot, Eve Taylar and the list goes on and this is all in less than a 1/2 mile radius!!!! We have a training college here where they train with Dermalogica and Elemis so there is no salon near by that usees Dermalogica. I trained with Pervonia but you need more that 1 treatment room and its probably more set up. Because times are hard for most I wanted a skin care that aims more at a must have skin care rather than a luxuary skin care if that makes sense???

Dermalogica is mid priced, well known and respected. We do really well with it. Decleor didnt do half as well in my salon.

Hi Kassy, at the moment I am using Natural Elements by Essentially Yours its ok but I feel that they dont do anything extra special that I can use in a Facail like you can with Dermalogica so for them they can do most of it at home. The products themselves dont last that long because they are Organic and they can soon smell a bit ransid once opened, I have had to throw a few products away because they have gone out of date so dont really want to buy anymore:sad:

Hi, i looked around for ages for a skincare range that was at the right price for me and the customer at retail and of course one that delivered results!!! There are soooooo many out there and you can get clogged with too many to choice from which gets very confusing, time consuming and makes the choice even more difficult.

I initially opted for dermalogica, but it didnt offer results for the particular market i was targeting; mainly skin pigmentation and of course the opening order was another large factor. Furthermore you can purchase their products from almost anywhere on the internet at competitive prices, which was a very big negative for any salon wishing to push the retail side!!

I then considered Natural Elements but this range didnt inspire much confidence in results; lovely packaging, smelt nice but that was really it!!! The price was also very very appealing!!

Collin Paris was the alternative, but very expenisive for opening order and very, very expensive for the retail side. Then opted for Environ, but lastly i opted for Cetuem London. Very reasonable price for salon and retail, training is free, packaging is very stylish, results are proven, as i tested the product for a month before purchasing. Great brand to work with. Draw back is name awareness, although they assure me they are definitely working on their marketing side for brand awareness, infact i believe they have been working with Miss England to promote the brand?

Hope my experience helps you and good luck. Its a daunting task to decide on a skincare range. But the best of luck..

Thanks for all your replies I will do some more thinking taking you comments on board....if I was sure I would do more Facials I wouldn't hesitate!! If only we had a crystal ball!!

Although the opening order seems alot you pay £1000 initially then pay the other £2000 over a year. It definately depends on area you live in, do some research with clients and see if they have heard of products (in mags all the time). The area I used to work in I didnt get alot of clients but in my new salon Dermalogica is flying off the shelves and facials are doing really well too! As the other girls said the training is great and you can do all your ordering online if thats easier, delivery usually only takes a couple of days! x
