I'm have to write a little about myself for my website, about my qualifications etc & I was wondering if I should write in the 3rd person?

Also, I kinda feel a bit embarrassed, lol, it feels like I'm gonna have to blow about myself! :o

Any tips?

Hi hun,
This I think is down to personal preference.
I personally dont like reading sites in 3rd person & hate when they say "we" when there is only one therapist.
I think that when you read a website that is written in 1st term it sounds more friendly & personal.
Best tip I can give you is read through as many beauty websites that you can, see how they are worded, what you like as a client & therapist, would you would & wouldnt do & go from there.
Dont feel embarrased about talking about yourself & your qualifications, thats what clients want to see.
At first I wasnt going to have a testimonail page, but when I mentioned this to a client (who is in the advertising industry), she said I was mad not to & that thanks to Ebay people want to & expect to read feedback if not they may doubt why is it not there!
Have a read of my welcome page if it helps x:hug:x

Lisa Gill really dislikes 3rd person writing, she feels it looks more personal when it's written in 1st person. :green: But she would like to add that's just her humble opinion. x

First or third person can work, just make sure you're consistent throughout your site. But yes, it is more personal in first person x

 funny!

It also annoys me when 'we' is said when there is only one person working there!

Ditto above, if it is just you then you should write in the first person unless it is a professional web designer developing and writing the content in which case you could have them write it in the third person. If there are lots of therapists then you could write in the third person for all in the business but yes blow your own trumpet, no-one else will do it as well!

Hiya

Content is also part of your branding process so if you have decided that you are a "1-Lady-Band", then go all the way with it, promoting the benefits (of being small, personal, dependable and flexible etc). using the 1st person and being consistant across all your promotional materials and communications.

Even if it is a professional designer working on your website - they would need to be clear about the brand image you are trying to promote and therefore write and develop it accordingly.

Secondly: Blow, blow, blow about your qualifications, experience and achievments...and then blow some more with testimonials as suggested above.

If you'd like me to have a look once you have finished give me a shout - I've done a few in my time. Best of luck!
