I'm about to install a dedicated tanning room with showering facilities.

I currently using Fake Bake cream, but am about to introduce Sienna X spray tan.

I know the whole idea of spray tan is it's quick, but do any of you have a facility/service where the client can come and have a shower to exfoliate before a spray tan, if they are coming straight from work etc.

Do you think this is a good service to offer?

Strictly speaking spray tans work better on slightly acidic skins, however as much as I know this I always have a shower before a spray tan!!! I have a shower in my salon and I think its a great idea personally, I would prefer to clean up before I have a tan knowing I cant shower for 6-8 hours

As i work on a mobile/home basis i dont have this facility, i just inform clients to shower & exfoliate the night before or before the tan.

In my honest opinion i wouldnt have this facility if i had a salon or home business as i dont think it will be used that much as clients usually like their own space and time to do this and so on.

Hths x

If you are using Sienna....have you considered this? I find it ideal for those last minute customers.

Sienna X - Sienna X Exfoliating Spritz - 500ml

I've had several nail clients lately that come along and then find out I do spray tanning. I offer to upgrade them to a tan & nails package and they can exfoliate there and then without a shower.

I have a wet room in my new salon (flukey) lol

Was wondering how i could put it to good use....

Lynsey, Thats why we love you so much!!!

Cheers hunny, thats is fab and so is your nails and tan package thingy, never even thought of doing that!:smack: Tell me more lol

I do really like the shower idea though aswell. Like Toni said, if I had been working all day, I would like to clean up before a spray.

In the spa i work in we offer to exfoliate the clients that havent had time or cant be bothered.
This is added as an extra service for £20 and then they just shower it off.

I personally like to exfoliate the night before and then shower just before.

Theres nothing better than having a shower in advance of a spray tan especially knowing that its going to be a good few hrs before you can do it again.

In addition to the sense of feeling clean a shower is good for removing any perfume, make up residue, remenants from exfoliating etc however it is important to point out to customers to use a soap that has a low PH level and that they ensure they wash off any soap/shampoo residue.

Our skins all have different levels of acidity and females particularly suffer from higher levels than males do so a shower before a spray tan application can also work against the tan outcome.

During the course of the day when our bodies sweat we actually reduce the acidity levels towards a more neutral level which is far better suited to a spray tan application.

It therefore follows that by showering before hand the acidity level of the skin increases back up to its naturally high level once again.

Its all about finding a balance ...there are hand held pump sprays available on the market that you can use to lightly mist an individual who has turned up unprepared which neutrolises acidity ,PH levels as well as perfume and jelwery stains on the skins surface .

Handy stuff to keep around for such individuals
