ackHi Geeks

Not sure If I have titled this approiately! Anyway I have been researching different eyelash extension companies and have narrowed it down to Las Perfect, Flirties and 3 D lashes. I had Lash perfect lashes put on last night and they do look quite nice however during the treatment mys eyes watered so much and I never known my eyes to be sensitive to anything before. They didn't sting though but during the treatment my nose became really blocked and when I got home my breathing was quite bad, I'm asthmatic but do get attacks. In the night I had to use my inhalers alot as I couldn't breathe and I feel full of a cold although this morning it is better than it was. I don't think this iyelash tes a coincidence as it all happened quite quickly.

Anyone have any thoughts on this and what I should do? Will this happen to me if I try out the other brands as it is the fumes in the glue also will I feel like this all the time if I become an eyelash technician?

I really like the 3 d lashes. Anyone done their training? What is the feedback from training with them.

Thank you

Krissie. x

you could always buy a mask to use to help reduce the intake of fumes, i'm sure i got some masks in my training kit. i use flirties glue at the moment and i must say i haven't noticed any smell or anyting like that and the people i have put lashes on have all been ok, no watery eyes, no trouble breathing actually no commenting on the glue fullstop and i certainly haven't had any problems with it. x

It was possibly the adhesive that was used that had a few fumes that have affected you, the flirties adhesive is usually good for those that are sensitive however i dont use the expert strength adhesive on some clients as some can be sensitive to the slight fumes that come from the faster setting adhesives.

As a technician none of this should affect you, the first time i had my lashes done they watered alot but after that i was ok so maybe try a different adhesive for lashes fitted to yourself. As a technician - You should be fine if you do find that you are sensitive to the adhesives you can always wear a mask as this may help as said above and also you can try different adhesives, what works for one person doesnt always work for another.

I havent done 3d training or used their adhesives but im pretty sure its susan evian on here that has, cant remember off the top of my head. If you want any info on flirties i can send you info or have a search through the posts on here, there are a few posts about adhesive too that may help you. There are lots of companies and once trained you can usually buy from different suppliers by sending a copy of your certificate. hths xx

Thank you for your replies. Sorry about all the errors I wrote had my 2yr helping, should of read it at the end.

I thought about a mask but wasn't sure whether it would be good enough and I also get so hot wearing them but anything that is going to help. I will try and pm susan evian about 3 d lahes.

I had a similar problem when I had my eyes done the first time, but the second time I had someone more experienced do them and no side effects at all. I asked the therapist doing them and she said it was most likely to be the way the other girl was working and how she placed the pads. I'm not qualified so don't know how true it is but I'm going to be training with lash perfect this weekend so I'll add this on my questions list!

This could be the adhesive.. However Lash Perfect also have odour free adhesive and none of this will occur with it..

they are always such a wonderful help aren't they?? lol :D

gosh i so get what you mean about the masks! they are so horrible in this weather!

you could also ask if a window could be opened in the room to help remove any smells and put some fresh air into the room.

did you have a skin test? from what i know with allergies they can just develope any time even if you have had the same products used on you in the past though i have heard that it is rare for a reaction with a skin test not to occur but to have a reaction when you have the actual treatment - like i said that is just what i have heard from other people so not 100% certain if that is true.

i hope you find a solution. x

try anti hestimine tablets work a treat

I agree with the others, it sounds to me as if you are reacting to the fumes / odour in the adhesive which can be more or less strong depending on the adhesive you are using.
I wouldnt go down the route of opening windows etc as it might make your client uncomfortable (depending on the temperatures outside) and you also want to keep your work area clean and sterile...

Try an adhesive that is fume and odour free that might work much better for you.

Thank u to everyone with their suggestions. The first thing I did was go to the chemist to get anti histamines but I vant take any of rthem as I am breast feeding.

Dont the low odour low fumes glue not last as well an d have a slower drying time.

Is there anyone on here who uses pro blend plus from a h francis as this is the next brand 3 D lases that I am going to try. Must be a glutten for punishment but \i feel it is important for me to try the different eyelash companies out their to help me make the right choice. When I spoke to 3 D lashes they said the strong level 3 glue could be quite fumey anyone use this I think I have seen a geek on here saying it is quite good so I welcome all of your opinions.

Hi Kris

yes generally you will find that the odour and fume free adhesives take a bit longer to dry...unfortunately you cant have one without the other and it will be the same throughout the different brands. The faster setting time comes with a different viscosity and unfortunately due to the way the adhesives work with fumes....the faster setting the adhesive the more fumes you might get.
As per the strength or longevity - no, that isnt true but as you seem to have Asthma and problems with the fumes i would really go for a fumefree one as there is no point in ruining your health for a few miliseconds.

Thanks wowbb thats good to know because I didn't want to comprimise on the strength or longevity for clients. x
