Silver hair extensions, will they grab toner more than clients own hair?

I have a new client who has silver hair and I have matched her hair to some silver extensions from my supplier.

What I’m wondering is when her hair needs toning again can she also tone the extensions? She wouldn’t need to as they’re already silver but should she just section her own hair and tone the top or can she just put the toner all over? I’m just worried that if she tones already silver hair extensions they will grab too much purple and become a different colour to her own hair.

Yes you're right in worrying. They will grab and go much darker, the tone will probably be off too.

Best, like you suggest, she just sections and tones the top of her hair!
