I have worked in Beauty for 7 years and I am starting my first salon shortly and would like some advice or recommendations on skin care brands.

I am looking for a company with a lowish start up cost ie: Guniot is £7500!!.

I have heard a lot and read a few posts on here about Gerards and Eve Taylor, are there any users with any advice?

I am keen on Eve Taylor but I worried its ‘too good value’ if that’s possible, Im worried my clients may think its too cheap, and whether its good, can the results be that good for such low prices?

Gerards seems to cover all angles including all ages, skin types and types of treatment but is more expensive.

HELP!

Thanks in advance.

Hey...bl***y nightmare isn't it?!

I'm in the same boat, i went to the beauty show at the NEC to see what was out there are was hugely dissappointed, there was not a lot there other than a lot of stall selling non-professional tat. grrrrr!!!

i did buy a kit called Derma-re-work and it's really good, it's for any and all skin types i've tried it out on myself (i've got sensitive skin) my mum (she's got v.sensitive combination skin, with fine lines around the eyes and lips) and my brother's girlfriend (she's got quite bad acne, papules, pustules and comadones...really inflamed) and it's been great for all of us! really noticle difference to the fine lines on mum's face and also calmed down the redness on her nose and cheeks, my skin feels much firmer and the texture is much better and my bro's GF it was the first time i've ever treated her and the people at work commented on how her skin looked much calmer and smoother, i'm going to continue treating her and do before and after pics and see how it goes (the plan is she personal trains my body - she's a PT - and i personal train her face! lol...by x-mas i'll be a size zero and she'll have a face as smooth as a baby's bum!!) I'm going to stock up and get the posters etc and start offering treatments with it.

anyways... their website is:

New York's Best Kept Secrets

if you give them a call the guy is really nice, i went back to his stand about 5 times before i took the plunge! lol, i just found it a bit odd only having one set of products when at college we had 3 or 4 different versions of the same thing.

hope i've helped....off sick with pig germs at the mo so got plenty of time to ramble on ha ha!

Cat x

Thanks again for your help

Ps hope you start to feel better soon

Hiya

I know how you feel, for some of the skincare ranges out there you need to spend a small fortune. I was in the same position as you around 3 years ago. I discovered Pure Fiji Skincare at London Excel 3 years ago, and am extremely pleased.

I currently offer the full range of Pure Fiji Spa, Facial and Body Treatments.

They are a fantastic natural skincare line, which offers a compact facial line that suits all skin-types.

In my salon we offer a hydrating facial for all skin-types, a skin brightening facial, and a firming and toning anti-ageing facial using these products.

Regarding the body range, they have an award winning exfoliating sugar scrub, which is absolutely amazing. The sugar melts during exfoliation and does not require showers, any excess you other massage in, or wipe off with a steam towel.

They also have various monoi massage oils. body butters, bath soaks, body scrubs, in 7 different infusions, Frangipani, Coconut, Gingerlilly, Mango..... and more. (These are the ones i stock.)

In terms of treatments they have around 12 different treatments, from Fijian Bobo massage which is a south pacic technique using forearms and elbows, (really good).

A sugar exfoliation treatment, called Tropical Paradise Sugar Glow Treatment. To the Royal Milk and Honey Ritual which is a body wrap using milk and honey to target cellulite and anti aging. This is my most popular one.

However there are lots more, Check them out!!

Oh almost forgot, and the best bit is the opening order minimum is tiny compared to other brands... only £550 plus Vat. And there is no set package as compared to other brands so you pick what you want, based upon the treatments you want to do, and thus dont have to stock loads of stuff which you may never use or sell, I have experienced with other brands.

I also would highly rate Pure Fiji, altough not yet used their skincare line
and i also love Ilsci organic handmade skincare:hug:

There opening order has gone down even more!!:)

I have been looking at skincare for the last couple of years really and never taken the plunge. I have used Dermalogica and it is a nice product and I always believed in it and up to 6 months ago I would have gone for that but for the opening order of 3k (which incidentally has just gone down a fair bit for those interested).

Anyhow, I digress. I went on the Nimue course back in June and I was blown away by the concept, I have to admit though I was a little negative and though "yeah they all say that" on the first day as is my way, I question everything.

I didn't have to order any products I think as I had been pestering the life out of the lovely lady at Susan Molyneux. So after the course I thought I would buy some products to try on myself. OMG it has taken 6 weeks with a few traumas of spots but my skin is now amazing!

I am mobile and use NYR products they are organic aromatherapy based skin and body care, my clients love them. If you want further details PM me

SwissDermyl is a brilliant, results driven range, with no minimum order value, ever. I stock this, and use this in my salon and I have any number of loyal clients who swear by it. The training is free, the support is great. I offer a 100% money back guarantee on all my products and services, and I couldn't do this until my products exceeded my clients' expectations.

If you ever find yourself in my neck of the woods come along and have a facial on me; see just how good the range is!
