As you are aware I'm going to rent a room within a gym and I have been looking at skin care companies that can provide me with adequate products for both male and female clients.

I've looked into Clarins, Comfort Zone and Dermalogica all having appropriate packaging and type of products for each skin type as well as specific products for the men (shaving products etc).

However, all these companies are EXPENSIVE to open an account up and to be honest Dermalogica appeals more as they have a £500 opening account basis with 6 monthly payments after that for the remaining amount which to me sounds great as you get to start working and (hopefully earning) in order to pay the 6 monthly payments.

My problem is I'm not sure if I'm going to be doing enough treatments with the Dermalogica products in order for it to make the 6 monthly payments (I'm not bothered about taking a wage for 6 months so everything I earn will go back into the business).

So, I'm thinking of offering just the basic express and luxury facial & body treatments (as opposed to prescriptive treatments) with a product brand that is better than Skin Truth or any other 'basic' warehouse product with a decent retail line in case people want to buy retail.

My main concern is the packaging and products NEEDS to be appealing and useful for my MALE clients as I will currently have more MALE clients than female.

Please help!

I can tell you that Germaine De Capuccini have a specific male product range, both professinal and retail. The products are distributed by Totally UK Ltd in London if you wish to make enquiries.

Thanks I do know of them vaguely, do you have any idea what there set up costs are? Dermalogica was £3K but spread over 6 months and Clarins and Comfort Zone was LOADS!! hehe

I know i bang on about them all the time! But Patricia Milton Cosmetics have great skincare for men and women. They are good about opening orders too and will sort something out to match your budget.

Hi guys

i use academie scientifique de beaute, not sure who the distributer in the uk is but i find there products amazing, they do not have an opening order value so you can talk to them about what you would like to offer and just get those products - you should look at their website www.academiescientifique.de

hth:)

I took on the Dermalogica range with the 6 monthly payments of £500 and then a bit extra as I had the larger package and It took me a lot longer to pay it off !!

I paid Dermalogica each month with 0% credit card then paid a percentage from my business account onto the credit card. I already had an existing client base but basically you are needing to earn an extra £500 per month on top of your basic income to survive.

I would reccommend that anyone looking to take on a range with a large opening order have some sort of savings in place as a back up as it is harder than you think to pay the money back whether it be a loan, credit card or direct agreement with the company.

If you let us know your budget then we can perhaps reccommend some suitable brands. I think Environ has an opening order of around £1000 which I think is excellent as It is starting to become well known with consumers and is a very results driven range. I have seen it mentioned a lot in magazines lately which is always a good thing !

I looked into Environ at PB and have a rep coming to visit me in a couple weeks. Their recommended minimum opening order is actually £500, and they have no minimum order policy thereafter. I was very impreed with them and can't wait to see their rep so it maybe worth you looking into them.

Wow that is good :)

I read in a magazine interview, can't remember the celebs name but she was raving about environ, she is in her 40's but looks at least 10 years younger and she put it down to using environ. I think it might be claudia, the one off the strictly come dancing spin off ?
