My skin has been a complete mess for ages and I just don't know what to do.

I have loads of blackheads on my nose, chin and some on my cheeks beside my nose, I get pustules regularly in different places mostly, cheeks, jawline and chin only a few at a time though. My nose is shiny and has a leathery look? It also peels a lot. I'm just confused should I be treating my skin as sensitive or dry, combination, oily? At the minute I'm using a Eve Taylor purifying wash, balancing toner and lotion.

x

Sounds like you have oily skin, I have never used eve taylor, though have heard amazing reviews about the products so this advice is nothing to do with the brand itself. Ask yourself, how long have you been using the products? If you can identify whether the products are no good for your skin type but are happy with the brand call the eve taylor customer care line, they should be able to advice you on something suitable, maybe also the toner is too harsh, I think you also have sensitive skin. What is your diet like? Easier said than done but try and add fruit and veg into your diet, drink lots of water :) hope you come to a good conclusion, and get some more advice from other knowledgable geeks. Keep us updated, feel for you, not nice to have troubled skin xx

Invest in a good exfoliant (removes dead skin cells) and thoroughly cleans skin. Use that once a week (ask a Clinique consultant) in a department store. Always best to speak to someone face to face. Take make up off at night! Try not to touch your face with dirty hands. Hope some of this advice helps :)

I have had bad skin in the past and I use Eve Taylor now my routine is soothing cleanser for first cleanse to remove oils and make up etc, wash with purifying wash, exfoliate but only twice a week, spritz balancing toner on and moisturise with balancing moisturiser or if having a breakout purifying moisturiser.

Try not to pick or touch your face at all, the no3 oil is good to apply at night also. X

Also You need to stick with the products for a minimum 4 weeks to see any results, HTH

Have you tried the anti bac wash ET does its fab, use it once a day as can be a bit much if used twice, really good for outbreaks. Also as said before exfoliate a couple times a week. A good facial with extractions would definitely help the blackheads.

When I have a client presenting with these symptoms I would suggest they use
Puramed glycolic cleanser (3%) followed by puramed pure salycilic acid 2% and followed by hyaluronic serum and green tea SPF
These are retail products of medical grade and pure strength I've yet to see a client not achieve a clear up and resullts with salycilic and acne are immediate
Puramed Professional UK

Thank you for your comments, I have been using the products for about a year now x

Firstly don't go anywhere near Clinique?! Buying into dept store brands is just throwing good money away. I'd second the aesthetic queens advice.. I've also seen good results with Gatineau - they're not comparable with puramed but are a results driven excellent range that's worked well for me. Hope you find something that works for you x

I would second not touching high street products. I would suggest Environ Sebuwash and an Environ moisturiser. Keep it simple, and don't aggravate it, but you'll have 101 other suggestions I'm sure!

It's all but impossible to make an accurate diagnosis (and therefore an accurate product/treatment recommendation) without actually seeing your skin.
I would suggest that you go see someone who specialises in facials. Take any meds, supplements and products with you, and have a thorough consultation with them.

I would third not using Clinique ! Especially the toner for oily skin, we used to use that to clean any marks on the counters that couldn't be moved with normal cleaners !!

Totally agree with Lynne. You may think you have oily skin but the purifying range might be too much for you if your nose is peeling. I use ET and took purifying wash instead of balancing cleanser on holiday with me once by mistake. My skin broke out awfully and my nose was super dry. You might also need to add some steps to your weekly routine including exfoliation and mask to clear and refine those pores. A proper and thorough skin consultation should help.

Hey,
I have had this problem with blackheads on my nose, constantly popping them which i know is no good and just makes them more visable but i cant help it lool! doing this would cause me to rip the skin off with my nails LOL so BAD! so then the skin my nose would all be broken and peeling.. i use the avene skin care range, fash wash, cleanser toner, then either keihls face moisteriser or avene moisturiser and yeah exfoliate once a week i use clean and clear blackhead scrub! Or a cheaper option is the simple skin care range.. my skin is very dry ... xx

Ok everybody on the Clinique thing, mentioned the company for a consultation, the girls have thorough training on skincare! I'm sure all our ideas will be of some help.

Thanks everyone, I know I should go and see someone but I have before and they haven't done anything for me, although I think I've managed to find a salon that does Eve Taylor so fingers crossed x

I can recommend image skincare - I have (or used to have) oily skin - the ormedic range will balance out oil, and the clear cell range will target backheads x

Amy if you're ever in Fermanagh book in for a facial with me.. I'll help you see what's going on with your skin ...

I think look at it externally and internally...step back look at the whole picture...seems to be a lot going on with your skin... a good honest evaluation of the full skin picture would help

ie internal - health / hormones / nutrition / stress / genetic history / exercise / medications / suppliments / smoking / drinking / water consumption

external - work/home environment, skincare routine, smoking, make-up etc
