Hi everyone... was wondering if anyone here could help me at all?

I always wanted to be a Beauty Therapist since the age of about 11! I did some work exp, finished school, got accepted to the right college course (it was an HND as i’m from Scotland) but then at the last minute I changed my mind. The main reason being that i had really bad skin at the time and lost all my confidence, felt too self conscious to study beauty when I felt i looked so bad!

My career took a completely different direction and i became a PA then Air Hostess! ✈️

Anyway i am now 37, just had a baby and can’t really work as an Air Hostess anymore.

I would really like to finally break in to the beauty industry. I would ideally like to study Skin Care at an advanced level, and hopefully start my own business in a couple of years time. I’d like to specialise in skin treatments as this is the area that I have personally had problems with throughout my life and i’d like to help people similar issues.

I have had a look online and its a bit of a mine field with so many courses available! I really have no idea where to start!! I have seen a course called “Access to Aesthetics Diploma” by Sally Durant which looks good and gives Level 2 CIBTAC qualifications at the end of it. There are also similar courses available through Skin Philosophy (but without the CIBTAC qualification) and a few others too.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as the best courses to take or look in to?

Before people advise me to go to a local college - it is only Skin Care that i’m interested in. Local colleges only offer Beauty Therapy as a whole or Skin Care and Make Up - which is at quite a basic level.

So to re-iterate; I’d like to study Advanced Skin Care to the highest level possible with no previous beauty or medical training.

Any ideas??? Thanks xxx

I can personally recommend the Sally Durant courses. I don't know how it works - I have an NVQ2 and most of an NVQ3 and what I'm now doing is a level 4. I'm not sure what the entry is etc. Give them a call and make sure it's what you want.
They're is also another qualification with the Harley Group but not sure if they're what you need. Again, give them a call.
I know there are a few options to go through university etc. and do a degree but these are thin on the ground.

Good luck x

It was great, academically. Sadly, Sally Durant Aesthetic Education and Training went into liquidation on tuesday.

Hi everyone, one year later I find myself in the same boat with a wealth of options online but not sure which one to choose or where to start. I've been researching for months now and it can be quite overwhelming. I'm based in London. Wondering if you found the course you were looking for and which one you went with?
