Hi all skin geeks, I'd love to pick your brains...

I recently applied for a job as a nail tech and was turned down as I don't do any other beauty treatments. As much as I've only ever wanted to be a nail tech, I am now seriously considering branching into beauty/holistics also, but don't want to do all aspects, only the ones I'd enjoy.

I can't do a college course as my local only offers the NVQ which covers all aspects, and I only want to cover facials/body treatments for the moment such as wraps, and I've found a very good product company already who will teach me tanning and waxing in-house (but unfortunately don't teach skin care)

I'd like to train with a product company if possible, for example like how Jessica will teach manicure or Sienna teach spray tanning, is there a company out there which only deals with facials/body treatments?
I'd eventually like to go on to use something high end such as Dermalogica but hear they only offer training if you already have an NVQ? Does anyone know if this is correct?

Many thanks, and if anyone can think of any other training options for me, please let me know!!

try Triniti in Cardiff, they do courses. Most facial skincare companies will accept you with a recognised accredited facial course.

Thanks that's great, I have heard of Triniti but didn't realise they offer skin care courses!

NSI. I was having a look yesterday, they do a facial course which they say is the equivalent of the NVQ 2 skin care. If I were you I would ring dermatolgie (sp) and ask them if they would accept this course. NSI also do make up courses etc. But for waxing I would and did pick Kim Lawless there is a reason she's called the wax queen. Tanning well there are loads look at the treads on here and you'll see for yourself:lol: Good luck hun:hug:

Hi

i am also looking to do a facial course and have been looking at one on the internet with gateway workshops who are accredited by the guild has anyone heard of them??? If not any suggestion am looking for a weekend course as i work and find it really hard to get time off! Also does it matter with the brand of product you train with as i was thinking if you are trained well surely you could use any product once qualified???

xxxxxx

you need to get your facial training sorted THEN go with a skincare range, simples.
