Hi ladies,

I'm wondering if any of you have used Skintruth Refining Hand Scrub? I am doing a manicure/pedicure course and this is one of the products included in the kit. What I'm wondering is, is it really supposed to be so runny? I have been told today that it's fine that it is separated with the oils at the top as it shows they are essential oils, and that I just need to mix it prior to using. The thing is though, even if I mix it, it's so sloppy, how on earth am I supposed to apply it to the client? I can't just slop it out with my hands and an orange stick certainly won't work. Any thoughts?

what about maybe using a waxing spatula?? if you are using this scrub would you have to have a large enough bowl to rinse it off as well, with maybe some sotton pads, unless the client has dry rough skin you might not need to use the scrub?? hth x ruth

Thanks Ruth, to be honest I think it would run off a waxing spatula too, it really is that sloppy :suprised: I've been taught to take the scrub off with a towel using a see saw action if that makes sense?

I think you may get away with a really small measuring spoon, not the most popular thing to use but in this case it would prevent you loosing/wasting any product.
Also it sounds like you will only need a tiny amount as its runny and will go along way.
I use warm towels for removing the scrub

it must be quite runny then!! I am not sure that a spoon would look very proffesional, I have seen on a tutorial somewhere, might have been on the cnd spa manicure tutorial a small laddle being used, will have a look and see if I can find it.....
here it is, it shows it just after half way through, not sure where you would get it though......

Thanks for that Ruth, that was a very strange consistency that she laddled on there! The scrub was nice though, why can't Skintruth's version be like that? lol

Hi, is it the refining sugar scrub?....if so yes it does separate give it a really good stir so the sugar isnt solid then use a wooden waxing spatula and just go for the sugary stuff, dont even worry about the fluid. You will manage to get enough out for your manicure a little goes a very long way. hth xx

Yes i bought i massive pot of this but i binned it after two uses because it was so sloppy and messy which also annoyed me also because i dont like waste!. But everytime i stirred it it would slop over the sides. I didn't think until after i binned it that i should of given it a good stirring then decanted half of it into a storage pot and only use half a pot at a time allowing some stirring space without it slopping over the edge. ;)
I now use CND scrubs has they are not sloppy or messy. xx

Completely agree, we use this in college, only need a small amount, and we use waxing spatula in college to get it out x Scoop it out with that....and it should be plenty x It smells sooooooooooooooooo nice xxx I may have to get some tomorrow lol xxx

I used this while training too and glad I'm not the only one to find it a bit of a pain! That said, everyone I've used it on loved the smell and how soft it left their hands. I've got a fair bit of Skin Truth mani and pedi stuff left so will probably still use it while I'm starting out. Will probably upgrade to something else in the not too distant future but have no idea what at this stage!

Thanks girls, looks like I need to get some waxing spatulas then! I thought there was a problem with the first one I had and got EN to send me a replacement but it seems it IS supposed to be like that then - oops!

I bought this product when i first opened my salon as the range looked good and was cheaper than a lot of other brands...

lets just say buy cheap, buy twice.

its a terrible product in comparison to other manicure scrubs i've used in the past. like you said it needs mixing first, but even then its kinda wet and sloppy and seems more watery than oil if you know what i mean... plus i find the texture far coarser than is comforatble on the hands...

needless to say i ditched it promptly, i wouldnt want somebody to use it on me if i were a paying client...

the opi and creative hand scrubs as much nicer, and if you are on a tighter budget try the salon systems thai range their hand scrub is quite significantly nicer and not too pricey.

.

obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and this product may not be for everyone. But i do have to disagree. When it is used in the correct amount and with nice warm water, it is a very effective scrub always delivering silky smooth hands that clients love. xx
