Has anyone tried a soak off coloured gel over a set of Brisa enhancements?
I am new to gel and experimenting, one more question as Brisa is all I have used.......when you use soak off gel how long do you soak for? Do you just take it back to a thin layer of gel and rebuild?

Hope this makes sense.

you shouldnt have any problems.
i havent used it over brisa, but i do over lechats xtraseal gel which is a hard bulder gel similar to brisa.
it also works over l/p acrylic enhancements too.

when you are finished applying your regular gel perfect the suface but leave it with a 180 grit finish and cleanse before applying a soak off gel colour and topcoat.

Thanks Susan for the advice, I will ve it a try.

In fact it looks like CND are releasing a new product in May 2010 that is probably a soak off gel have a look at this link http://cnd.com/teaser/

There is no problem in applying a soak off gel over Brisa

It's when it comes to the rebalance that you may have problems, as soak off gels tend to be quite rubbery and hard to file, so usually you would soak them off, however the Brisa underneath is hard and would need to be buffed and not soaked.

Maybe just try it out on one nail first to try it out

Is the new CND Shellac different to bio sculpture?
Does any one know yet??
Sounds exciting though:Grope:

I use Brisa and have used OPI axxium soak off over top with no problems. On rebalance I just file off the soak off gel as I would any other gel. However the axxium is not rubbery like some soak offs.
This new colour gel from CND sounds interesting.

Do you mean you would file the soak off to break the seal then soak, leaving the Brisa still on the nail or buff the soak off of completly?

I think she meant that she would buff the soak off gel completely.

I wouldn't advise buffing and then soaking the gel to leave the Brisa still on the nail, as the product remover would interfere with the product chemistry of the Brisa gel and eventually lead to service breakdown.

Some soak off gels are much easier to file than others, but the ones I have used have been fairly rubbery and that's why I prefer to stick to using buff off gels or soak off gels and not mix them... that's just my opinion of course:)

Yes thats what I meant Karen, buff it all off. I agree this wouldn,t necessarily work for all soak off gels, but works well with the axxium. Some clients with extremely thin nails need the Brisa for strenghth with the axxium and because of this I am considering moving to biosculpture. Its a lot of hassle and time consuming using two systems together and shouldn't really be necessary, but i'm finding on thin nails that clients are getting low down breaks at side wall even on short nails with the axxium. Would go back to painting polish over the brisa but clients love the fact that the axxium doesnt budge for over three weeks. x
