Hi geeks! Can anybody out there recommend a good way to soak off gel nails. It's taking way too long and fed up tearing up the ol' tin foil!

why is it taking so long?

By the time i've wrapped all 10 up i can go back to the first one and start to take it off!:green: but thats biosculpture / calgel

What gel are you removing? And how many infils do you do before you soak off?

Are you filing it first (with a 180grit) to break the seal?

You can just pop the hands directly in the acetone - bit uncomfortable sitting there for a while though i find.

I use nail wipes soaked in acetone, pop on the nail and cover in hair foils.

Alternatively you could try something like this....

Not sure and did wonder about the quality of old remover.

I have now bought some Bio Sculpture Gel Remover (Acetone)

Infills = 2

I will try the 180grit file (perhaps that's it?).

If honest I don't really want to pop my hands in acetone. Would placing the soak off bowl complete with remover in a bowl of warm water speed the process up? I don't want to damage my natural nail.

This might sound like an obvious question, but is it definitely a soak-off gel that you are trying to remove? If you are trying to soak a buff-off gel you will be there for weeks!!

I cheat and buy short hairdressing foils from my wholesaler. I just stock up when they're on special.

TBH, its not that much more expensive than kitchen foil and by the time I've done the cutting up......my time is worth more! lol!

Hi,

I find putting the bowl of acetone in another bowl of warm water. It's not as cold and horrible, but still time consuming! I don't know whether it makes it any faster though I've not done it that many times to notice!

Heat really speeds up the process, but you need to be careful with acetone or product remover. Do NOT heat it up in the microwave unless you want to rebuild your kitchen!

If you are soaking off in a bowl, pop it into another bowl of warm water as suggested above, and also put a towel over the clients hands to keep in the heat. If using the tinfoil method, put the clients hands on a hotwater bottle or warm wheatbag, again with a towel over the hands. Whatever method, don't keep taking them out of the product remover to "check on them". This lets the product start to harden up again.

Hopefully you will find the time cut down if you try with heat. HTH

Me too. Well worth minor increased cost.

Some heat really does speed things up. Using the foil method, I wrap my client's hands in a towel and then apply a heating pad. Nice and relaxing for the client too! I do find Bio comes off so easily anyway as long as the top layer is well filed...

NEVER HEAT ACETONE OR PRODUCT REMOVER DIRECTLY!

whether in the microwave, or ANY other DIRECT way!
warm water, and place your bowl of acetone or else on the (now) warm water. still, the water shouldn't that warm, it's even better to use the foil method as you keep yourself away from vapours.
