Okay, two things! :) Anybody have a fast way or helpful hints to remove acrylics? I normally just soak them off, but that takes sooo long...

Also, I need some hints for nail biters. How can you extend their nail bed? Tips, of course, won't stay on and forming them is hard when their is absolutely no free edge to get the form under. Any help??

OK when I soak off I usually take a cotton pad (lintfree) soak in acetone, put onto nail, wrap in tin foil. Do this for each finger, wait about 10 minutes and start taking em off in the order you put them on. if you pull one off and its not really soft, put it back on and continue soaking it to soften it.

Nailbiters: I don't like tips full stop, so I wouldn't use them on a nailbiter unless I used a clear tip. Again, I'd rather sculpt and extend the nailbed with a custom blend of pink coverage (I use EZ Flow and have mixed up a couple of coverage pinks for this purpose, one warm, one cool and one neutral - based on the HD coverage pink - wouldn't use the coverage pink alone as it looks plastic to me).

Anyway, there is a tutorial on here about how to give nailbiters a nail without using a form. Do a search in the box and you'll find it. Basically you put product directly onto the nailbed to extend it. As a one off, its fine, but if you have a nailbiter who continues to bite the enhancement off after you've done this, well its not good to put product directly on the skin in a constant manner (overexposure) but as I said, as a one off, should be fine.

Good Luck & HTH's

When Im removing a set I reduce the product before soaking them in product remover or acetone. I never used to but since reading advise on here I have and it makes a big difference. It only takes me about 25 minutes now and it doesnt feel like such a chore. I quite enjoy it

Hi, there is not really a 'quick and easy and tidy' way of soaking off really, however i did purchase a machine called a sonic something which heats and vibrates the acetone which makes soaking off faster. Patience is a virtue!! All the best:o)

Hi Like Eni Said this is the best way. I also rap nails in a hot towel or use my maniure heat mit to quicken the process... hth xx

Just as Suzy commented it you don't file the seal(shine) off then the acrylic can't absorbe product remover.....
Also heat will help the acrylic to soak off quicker. i use a small hot water bottle:-

1. File the surface of the acrylic to remove the seal
2. soak a nail wipe with product remover and wrap around the nail with silver foil ,closed at the end
3. lay a towel over the hand
4. Place a hot water bottle over the hands
5. wait 20mins or until product becomes rubber
6. softly slide product off the nail with a orange wood stick
7. File the nail softly with a natural nail file

Hope this helps:)

i bought a soaker bowl, which is hard to describe so here goes.

It has a lid at the side which you screw off, fill with hot water, put lid back on. then on the outside there are two indents (bowls) which i fill with acetone.

The client puts nails in each bowl, and the surrounding water heats it up for faster removal. I cover hands and bowl with a towel to keep the vapours down.

Hope this helps

no need for fancy soak off bowls i break the seal with a file first, fill two small bowls with acetone and put them in two slightly larger bowls with hot water in them then- soak and file soak and file. Iv tried loads of different way before but this is the quickest for me:)

Totally agree with Becky and Stephen. When removing a full set I always use the 2 bowl method which I find much faster than any other way.

I do use the foil method if I am only removing one or two nails during a service; it allows me to work on the other fingers while the one or 2 are being removed.

The foil method for me simply allows me to get on with my work. But for practicality and quickness, you can't beat the bowl within a bowl method.

As for tips on a nail biter .. I have never had a problem with tips adhering to a nail biters nails and they create instant side walls for you as well ... much quicker than all that building and forms etc on a person who is ultimately going to trash your hard work. I might use this method later after the tips have grown out a bit, but initially for ease and quickness I'd use tips every time and just tailor them to fit.

I hope when those techs who do all this work on nail biters do it, you charge allot extra for the time and effort!! :green:
