Hi there i trying to produce my own pricelists/leaflets but cant seem to do it on microsoft word and i cant find microsoft publisher on my computer wanted to know which you thought was best at doing this?

I use word.

But its not what you use, its how well you use it!!

If your pc / design skills arent up to scratch keep it simple. Or get it done properly, dont forget first impressions count!!

I did mine on an old Printshop deluxe package. I'm not too good on the old PC, however I used a poster setup and then I used 3 text blocks for the treatment menu with prices. I fold it twice to make it bi(tri ?)fold and then photocopy it. I've another design with the salon name etc for the outside. After photocopying the inside, I turn the copied paper over and do the outside. I use coloured paper and it looks OK. Not top quality - not cheap either. But it means that I can change my menu / prices quickly if required. Also, I don't get mad if they're left lying around as they're cheap to make ! HTH:hug:

I tried doing it on microsoft word but couldn't get then layout i.e. dividing it into columns so that i don't write over write the part thats going to fold into a leaflet does it not seperate it out for you in this way to make it easier.
I kind of wanted it into leaflet vertically and if wanted that i can add pages into it.

Microsoft office "on line templates" have a great range of brochure templates that work with Microsoft Office Word so should make life a little easier for you if you have word but not publisher.

I am fortunate enough to have microsoft publisher so I use this to design my leaflets. Once the leaflets are done on publisher it takes up a terrific amount of space on the hard drive compared to say a work document but the leaflets do look alot better.

Have a look at these templates:

if you don't have microsoft publisher you can download a free 60 day trial from their website
hth

hi i've tried that it doesnt work i guess they only say that you dont get nothing for free because i entered my email addresd and nothing came through:(

Take a look here and see if you can use this free programe My Brochure Maker im sure you will be able to rustle something good up HTH

if you click get started another box will pop up, you then want to select the middle one "without mailing panel" that in turn opens up a new page and from there you can select one for salon/spa but it can also be used for beauty.

Once you have selected the theme clock next and from here you can edit it all, insert what text you want etc.

Its then a case of printing them off....Have fun !

I use Microsoft Publisher for mine, it's part of Microsoft Office but depends on which version you have as to whether it's included on it or not, it took me a bit of faffing about to get it right but once you've got your head around it it's great.

I do have microsoft office access 2003 i guess it may not be the version thats similar 2 publisher i'll keep onm trying though and check the sites you've all mentioned
thankyou

Hi, used to do mine on home PC. Now I use Vista Print. I make them and save it and wait for a promotional offer so I only pay postage or something.
Works for me and they look really professional. I also do the same for my business cards and they match and to top that I recently had made a 2008 calander with my clients pics on and have it in my salon which only cost postage. I only print aftercare leaflet at home.

I too used publisher...but now I also use VISTAPRINT! You get an awesome product for the price :)

I use word. I think under formats you can pick the number of columns you want.

I'd recommend OpenOffice, OpenOffice.org: Home - it's completely free to download and use, and has a publishing package called "Draw" that is great for creating price lists, leaflets, flyers, etc. It will also open and let you work with Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel, etc) if you don't want to go to the expense of buying MS Office!

Word of warning if you plan on getting them professionally printed you may find a lot of printers will not accept word or publisher files. Just a thought x

This might also help

Very good point Rachy, that is another one of the reasons that I upgraded to the pageplus 9.0 version (and for 9 pounds you can't go wrong) because it has a feature which allows you to convert what you have done to Adobe pdf files.
