When the Finns first dug holes in the side of slopes and lived naked in 'savusaunas' during the winter, I bet they didn't bet on the sauna evolving in the way it has! Thankfully, clothing is often optional in saunas, and it's no longer about survival. Instead, saunas have a number of health benefits making them a favourite at health and leisure resorts, spas and wellbeing retreats.

The Natural Spa Company is pioneering a new trend in spa experiences and is introducing the UK's first outside Sauna Tent, available exclusively to the spa industry.

Designed by an expert and specialist company that supplies the arctic army (they would know about keeping warm I guess), the Sauna Tent is perfect for heating up outdoor spa areas. It is also possible to use them at events and parties - I'm guessing it won't be long before they're favourites at the coolest festivals.

What's more, they are easy and quick to set up. Simply light the central log fire and 45 minutes later your guests are ready to go. Octagonal in shape, the saunas seat 15-20 comfortably and you get to dodge any bureaucracy because they're planning-permission free!

"We are always on the look out for the latest innovations in spa products and treatments and believe that the Sauna Tents are the perfect addition to the UK spa industry. Thermal suites and heat treatments are a rapidly growing fashion in spas. Taking the sauna outside where users can take in beautiful views or soak up the surrounding atmosphere adds to the overall experience and gives the well-known sauna a new twist," says Emma Webber, Co-Founder of The Natural Spa Factory.

I quite like the idea of the Sauna Tent. I just wish I had a garden big enough to put one in!

Until then...geek on!
