Hi there, Ive had an email from a lady saying she is after someone to to her nails regularly, and shes in my area I cover. She has asked me if I do oap speacil rates ? .I am mobile and to be be honest majority of my client base are maturer ladies:)

Does anybody else do this, and Im not sure wether if I should just say yes to gain her, will she go else where if I say no ?I do offer such and such ammount off if they recommend a friend, should I mention that instead? What are your thoughts please???

If you don't offer an OAP discount then tell her so, but tell her what discounts you do offer (if any). If you do offer her an OAP discount you'll have to do it for all your older existing clients, else if they find out they'll be a little peeved! Personally I don't offer OAP discount, or discount on any group of persons, instead I have special offers for all throughout the year.

I don't offer any special prices for OAPs or anyone else, neither do I do any special offers, 2 for 1s or anything like that. Thinking really hard I do a free eyebrow wax for every regular client, because I cannot stand untidy eyebrows but not everyone takes me up on that one!

If you have a regular quiet day maybe a small discount is in order. What am I saying? No no no. I just cannot get my head around it at all, there are no OAP rates in the supermarkets or on holidays so I see no reason to discount our services, it takes us just as long and we use just as much product with every client. I know I sound hard but this is one of my pet hates. A fair price for a good service and you will be better off in the long run.

A good example, if not a bit silly, is if my clients who are now in their 50's, and I have around 20 of them, they all turn 60 within 2 years of eachother, my income then drops. You offer discounts, word gets around and then you are full of discounted bookings.

I know there will be a lot of people here disagreeing with me, probably nicer people than I am but I feel really strongly about this.

I'm glad I got that off my chest! LOL!!!:)

I think this was coverd in thread not so long ago.
I don't do oap discounts they have 10 fingers and 10 toes ( normally:lol:) just like evrybody else.
Where would it stop anyway, student discount, unemployed discount, mates rates etc???

The only times I've ever seen a salon offering discounts to OAPs was in self determined 'Quiet times' during the week and not very often at that. It was only offered to plug gaps, but I can see how you could be making a rod for your own back.

Thanks guys , youve answered my question , a defent no.:)

I wouldn't but i have seen a salon near me offering 10% to OAP's and under 16 on week days.

Well I told her I didnt do OAP rates but I done refer a friend ,and I could book her in for next Friday, she replied she was going away on the Thursday ...MMM????
