I have the HV5008 and i've been having problems since i bought it really.

I think it's to do with the setting's on my gun (the nozzles and twisties at the back and front)

When i'm spraying it goes on the skin and drips like mad and goes spotty as if i'm 2 close and 2 much is coming out I have tried adjusting the nozzles and obviously moving away but it doesn't seem to work.

When you wash it off after the developing time it's fine but i've had to stop offering spray tanning till i get it sorted because people are looking at themselves & they just look mortified i've told my previous one's i'm having a problem with my gun but it'll be fine after the developing time but it's still not good is it.

I emailed the company i got it from who i had training from (Although the training i paid for was carried out by a different company :/ )
Still waiting for an email back.

Also, does anyone have trouble screwing there cup onto the gun when they have solution in, it's taking me like 10 minutes to sort out!

Thanks! x

If you screw in the nozzle at the back so it is fully in (the one that adjusts the needle) then screw it out by approx 1/3 of a turn it should be at around the correct position. If this is set up correctly then I can only assume it may be a cleaning issue, but it really sounds like you have it set incorrectly to me. I don't have massive experience with this machine, but have recently been using it and find it to be excellent.
With the cup screwing on, you just have to make sure you have the threads lined up properly. I hold the cup steady and twist the gun onto it. If struggling to find the correct thread then screw it on anti-clockwise first (like unscrewing it) and then it should find the thread easily as it kind of clicks into place.

hiya
I was having problems with my gun same machine as you, I sent it back to the company and they informed me it was a manufacturers fault and sent me a new gun. My gun was also over spraying and I had great difficutly screwing the cap on. Since recieving my new gun i've had no problems, just a thought for you to bear in mind incase it is an actual fault with the gun.

if its still under warranty send it back to where you had it from its usually a small adjustment when you have problem like this, or a setting up issue, I test every machine by spraying 50 ml of water through it i set up the gun to the right spray pattern, and i pop in a leaflet telling them to just add solution and its ready to go,
On our training we show people how to set up /clean and maintain there equipment properly,
If its dripping like you say it sounds to me like you gun is letting out too much solution, this could be due to dha christals where the needle seats on the inner nozzle i have a set of wire nozzle cleaners for this job and you would not believe how dirty this area gets, the best thing to do is use one of your spare cups and have it filled with soapy water and just flush the gun through at the end of each session it takes mins but saves so much hassle
or as Jen said its maybe down to adjustment
all the way in and 1/3rd of a turn out is perfect (for our solution) and you should get 20+ tans with a litre if its set right
your spray head should be set at 6pm
If its not been like that from day 1 then its more likely a cleaning/adjustment issue
As for problems screwing the cup on thats a new one on me ? the thread is really wide and deep and the cups can be really tightened up hard
not like the flimsy cups on other machines

I clean my gun out every time i use it :/
I thought u had to lol.

at first i was using like 75ml for one tan then got down to 40ml now i'm upto a whole 250ml bottle for 1 tan it's an absolute f*****g joke! hence why i have given up for now! lol

How can u tell with water though cos it's well..clear, how can i practice spraying cos i was gunna try fiddling round again but spraying at the same time but i don't want to use solution and don't want to do that on someone..shower screen maybe???

Get yourself a cheap roll of wallpaper-you can get them for a couple of quid.
Tape some up in the back of your tent or on a garden fence, well anywhere really-lol

i use a blue paper roll to set the guns up with, and they go instantly darker when sprayed with water, i usually test the guns at around 8 to 10 inches from the roll if it dampens but does nt soak
you ve got it right :wink2:

I dont think the problem you are experiancing eminates from cleaning...this gun does take a bit of getting used to the adjustments.

What is needed is to gain confidence in the gun and to "experience" how the different components on the gun actually have an effect.

The best way to get confidence is to put a small amount of solution in the cup and fill the rest with water...so you can see the spray comming out.

Set things up by the shower cubicle and hold the gun in one hand with trigger fully pulled so solution is coming out.....then with the other hand turn the volume output dial all the way open, then all the way closed and repeat this a few times ...you will feel and see the variance of output what you are doing does to the spray hitting the cubicle walls.

Have a good play for 15mins turning that dial up and down...it really does give confidence.

Shower the walls down and then set the gun...turn fully closed...cant pull the trigger....open the dial slightly and pull the trigger...you should feel a click through the trigger.....spray down the wall and ensure sufficient solution is coming out and that the spray is consistent.

If you are using a solution with a heavy initial colour guide this can,in some cases cause spitting so try with a solution that isn't heavily fortified to see if it could be the solution your using that may be causing the problem for you.

If your still having problems send the gun back for inspection/repair.

On the cup issue..it,like the gun ,is simply a usage thing...the more you use the equipment the faster you will become at this function.

Keep trying and build that confidence through usage
