I just wanted to know if anyone can give me a few ideas on why a clients acrylic nails are splitting.....I did them a weekand a half a go and she sent me a text saying she had cracked one, it was split pretty much on the stress point of the tip....i replaced it after askin a few questions like have you had it in your mouth, did you knock it all to which she answered no. Well ive jsut had another text saying she has split another one and claims she has done nothing but sit at home....while i was fixing the original cracked nail she kept putting them in her mouth and i told her how easily she could cause lifting and cracking of the nail while in her mouth (twice actually) and she laughed it off.

She ended the message with "im totally over this and these nails". how do i respond the nails are beautiful, no lifting and the only problem is the cracking...is it something ive done or she has done. she is the little sister of one of my best mates so she speaks to me like im crap. Sorry about the long post just frustrated with her and whats goin on.
:grr:

Hey :)

It seems pretty clear to me that the problem is not with you.

She told you that she hadnt had them in her mouth, yet she put them in there right in front of you, and you still question yourself?

I would say that her putting them in her mouth isnt the only lie she told about how she has treated her nails, so dont beat yourself up about it!

I'd just text her back and tell her that I'm over her nails too! :green:

Sorry a little off topic but, does your best mate talk to you like that? If so I'd be getting better mates. In all honesty would you let another client talk to you like that? Im guessing no, so she should be no different, I would politely say, I think we are better off not doing your nails and leave it at that.

No my mate does not talk to me like that...her little sister (the nail splitter) has a weird sense of humour and i dont know if talking to me like crap is her way of being "funny" or thats just how she speaks to people. I gave her a bit of my own attitude back..in a half joking way of course but really actually meaning it. i have said to her there is not too much more i can do for her and her nails so she either needs to e more careful or try somewhere else

Nail enhancements do not split or break unless great pressure has been put on them. End of story.

Now they could be too long for the pressure she is putting them under with ter job or work etc etc.

OR they could be being squeezed in her mouth (probably).

Or she is just generally playing with them, cleaning under them with something she shouldn't be using (scissors, a knife, her teeth).

In any case if she is honest and takes responsibility (which she wont) she will know it is something she herself is doing.

Or you built the nails too thin in the wrong area and need to take the responsibility yourself and build them differently next time (if there is one). Only you can know this.
