my confidence seems to be fading in spray tanning, i did the course a few months ago and really enjoy doing it, for the first 20 tans everyone was pleased no negative feedback except the first few when i was getting too close to hands feet (the little things that i have corrected since). I posted a help on here about 2 that had streaks with which i got to the bottom of (custoners not following pre tan care), my next few were fine but i did one last night and she said not all of the tan took? i checked what pre tan care she'd donebefore i started, made sure it wasnt an oily exfoliant, shook the bottle of solution before i started, my equipment is always cleaned at the end of every day she has showered this morning when i sprayed her, the colour guide went on lovely and even all over so what am i doing wrong? i spray approx 6" away from the skin there is never any residue her last tan was perfect, i just cant think what could've caused this PLEASE HELP i dont want a bad name in my business and certainly dont want to tarnish the reputation of the brand i use as i think it is brilliant. She is a very good customer who im very friendly with as she has been coming for years to me and know she wouldnt scam me.

firstly I'd say you need to see what the problem is, you may see straight away theat you may have missed a bit. Its always best to go and look to see what the problem is.

Not pregnant is she?

the colour guide went on lovely and even i always make my customers turn round slowly afterwards to make sure i havent missed any and no she's not pregnant

I had 2 clients last week (luckily family members) and they had white patches on their legs. Next tan i went to do i checked the gun pressure-oops! bit low. Adjusted the pressure and the next tan was fab. You need to check everything. I have a checklist now for troubleshooting. If you've been doing good tans for a while then i don't think it is anything to do with your technique. Just check all your equipment:)

the colour guide looked like it went on evenly but it was the first tan this week so had washed my equipment and had newly adjusted my gun so it could be the answer many thanks for all your help x

I cant see it being your equipment if the colour guide has gone on correctly and you have shaken the bottle before hand.
Did she have a shower before hand. If so what did she use to wash with? Is she on anti-biotics or any other medication?
If I were you I would go and check it out. Have a look at her and ask her some questions. It sounds to me like she hasnt done something correctly.

If you have only recently completed a course and in the early stages of this aspect of your business you are bound to have problems..it is through having these problems and learning how to best deal with them that will give you your confidence back over time.
Don't be disheartened by this event and don't let it knock your confidence..trust in your training and learn from these experiences.

This little problem you have encountered could be a number of issues
1) application..it is easy to miss areas...do you have good light in your work area?
An application problem could emanate from equipment problems, not enough pressure,a sticky gun...make sure your equipment is fully operational and strip your gun right down to its component parts regularly.

2) poor preparation on the clients part....has she undertaken the pre tan prep adequately
HTH

What gun have you got?

When you are spraying check that the solution is actually coming out of the gun - I had a problem with a client whose gun was intermitantly spraying - the reason was that the tube was sucking in air - sometimes cause by not enough solution in the cub and the flow pipe not being inserted into the gun properly.

Another suggestion is to spray onto some folded couch roll prior to tanning a client - this way you can check how the solution is coming out.

Practise makes perfect!

i do check that the spray is coming out on couch roll before every client i use the t200 which is brilliant i clean it through with water daily and take it apart to clean it thoroughly once a week my lighting is pretty good although when in the tent it isnt quite as good i am looking to get a static booth soon
