Hi can anyone help me. I had a sienna spray tan done which I was chuffed with but afta a couple of days I noticed where my bra was the tan had rubbed off and left a paler mark I thought after a couple of days of wearing the tan this shouldn't have happened. I have since done a spray tan for man using a-tan he showered the next day everything fine, went to play football and where his shin pads had been the tan had rubbed off his leg. Is this normal I wouldn't have thought so, How can I prevent this happening again!!!. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you
Dawn

Yes hun this is normal, this is why you are advised not to rub the skin with a towel after getting out of the shower/bath as it will rub off.
I have found if i wear my bra on the last hook then it's not so bad as it doesnt rub so much. You will probably find it rubs off on your feet too.

Hi hun, i do not do spray tans but the last one i had, looked like i had got some skin problem as i went all patchy and it looked mucky which to be honest kinda put me off, as i would also like yourself want the tan to come off gradually and naturally. I sore fake bake at the show at that looked rather fab, but then other stalls said it was not as good as i thought mmm, but i was not prepared to get in a bikini for all to see at the show nooo
sorry not been much help just wanted to let you no i have experienced the same hunxx

It may well be that you had the wrong colour for your skin hun as it shouldnt look mucky. Mine usually comes off and looks a bit patchy but i get in a hot bath and scrub with my gloves and the remainder comes off.Dont let it put you off there are good solutions out there and there are not so good ones. I think Sienna is great im in love with the stuff!! Next time try a different colour. The 8% solution is a good one to start with, especially if you are quite pale xxx

This shouldn't happen at all if you,

a/ prepare the skin properly with good exfoliation and

b/ Shower off the guide colour properly after the allotted amount of time.

Whatever tanning ingredient is used (I believe Sienna uses both DHA and Erythrulose, but I do not know the ingredients of A-tan), they can only penetrate the Stratum Corneum, which is the outer 'dead' layer of skin cells. If the loose calls are removed first by exfoliation, then it allows the tanning agent to penetrate further in, and will then be naturally shed over the days following the application of the tan.

As the true tan wear's off over the following days there may some small residual colour rub off, but it this can be totally minimised by removal of that loose dead skin first.

It is also possible that what 'rubbed away' from the skin was not the tan, but residual colour guide. When first showering after the application of a tan, a good cleanse with shower creme should remove all the guide colour, and leave purely the residual tan, but if this isn't rinsed away thoroughly, that can leave the skin looking patchy. A gentle scrub is the best way to ensure all that colour guide is gone!

Thanks girls maybe I didnt wash the guide colour off properly. Wont be giving up got some practice tans this week. Fingers crossed. A bit nervous, but I am doing them free for a few friend.

also, if you are using a colour that is too dark for the skin it will be alot more noticable if you are experiencing rub off (which can be avoided btw!).

i have also found that if you overspray (which i dont, but it has been done to me!! :(), you have more guide colour on the skin, so sometimes it doesnt wash off properly and then the layer of guide colour rubs off. I only use 25-30ml per tan with sienna, because the guide colour is quite dark so i use less. :green:

other than that, totally agree with comment below about exfoliating loose cells properly. You need to give your tan the best base. its n good building a house on crumbling rock, as it will all fall down!

Couldn't agree more

By the way.....:idea:the black slugs are the bad guy's and the brown slugs the good guy's(apparently the black ones eat fresh foliage and the brown dead foliage which cleans up all them dead leaves and lawn cuttings)
Miles off topic but might just help you with your slug problem
if all fails...machine gun em

I definitely agree with the comments on exfoliating well before getting the spray tan done; I exfoliated before the Tantrick tan I modelled for earlier in the year, and that lasted fine - no noticeable rubbing off or anything nasty like that...
