In a world of my own!
hi ladies & gents
i did a spray tanning course a couple of months ago through a private training provider. it was 4 hour course which i was surprised about (thought it would be longer) but i was assured this was plenty of time. the training venue were to organise models and i was assured i would be able to spray atleast three models. anyway off i went to my training, the trainer was very nice and clearly knew what she was talking about. the only thing was everything felt a bit rushed. we covered all the health and safety and the tanning process, contra indications etc . . . . . .
however, i only got to spray one model. i did question this as i was told over the phone i would be able to spray atleast three. the whole training took 1 hour 45 mins (i arrived at 9am and i was out the door at 10.45am) and although i left feeling that i understood the H&S and the science of the tanning process i felt quite cheated as i felt that spraying one person was just not enough.

so before i waffle on for all eternity, what do you think? is this normal?

thanks in advance for all your comments

I think most training is the same. You just do one model.
Spray tanning is all about practice and more practice.
You just have to get your own routine going.
Everyone has their guns different. Some like to spray quick with the gun higher, some like to spray with the gun lower.
Practice, practice and more practice makes perfect

4 hr/half a day for spray tanning is pretty normal,
although 1 hr 45 mins is not acceptable, or normal,
when i teach spray tanning i schedule half a day and if it takes longer that is fine, i would hate to think that any trainee felt rushed, i would rather spend longer with them until i can tell that they are comfortable with everything even if that means going over everything twice,
i usually let the trainee bring their own models so they can have any number,
some people can only provide one model but it is better if more are provided as the more you spray while with your trainer the more confidence you will have when you leave, hth

I agree with loubylou 1 hour 45 mins is not acceptable.
I run a private training academy and my spray tan course is 10am - 4pm. Learners bring their own model for the day. We go through the theory until lunch then the practical after lunch. you also get a comprehensive manual and handouts to take away. I would contact your training provider if you are not happy with your training as I most certainly would not be happy with less than 2 hours training. I hope they have a good after training support available to help you when you need it.

I tanned loads of people on my training (~10), but my training was carried out at my home as 121 training and I was asked to get as many models as I could. Can't remember how long the traing took, but I felt really confident to start on paying customers straight away.
The time you got for your training, doesn't sound great but best thing to do is get practicing on friends/family and make sure you remember your technique xx

1hr 45min is simply not acceptable and will not enable you to fully grasp all aspects of spray tanning...I would definitely get back onto your training provider and request a proper time allocation for training you...in fact I would be inclined to suggest you go the whole hog and request a full retrain...the full 4/5 hrs or money back please missus.

If they don't help you ...well give us a call and I will happily arrange for you to visit one of our trainers for full training on us...this sort of thing is what gives this business a bad name :irked:

HTH

Colin, whereabouts in scotland are you based?

Collin is offline now hun,
he is based in Aberdeen but has trainers covering the whole of the UK, hth

When I've trained people it's always been at least 4 hours (more if needed) and 1 model is enough as long as they do that ok (I have let a couple of trainees do me a spray tan if I wanted to make sure they were 100% happy with what they were doing before they left).

I hour 45 minutes is nowhere near enough and I would seriously get in touch and tell them you're not happy with the training you had and would like either a refund or more training!

Was the person who trained you an accredited trainer?

Kate

Personally i would contact them.. you paid for 4 hours and to tan 4 models..this didn't happen!

Either get your money back or demand the training again!

When i trained i sprayed 3 people. And im also a trainer and i allow my trainee's to spray 2-3 people and the training lasts 3-4 hours at least!
