Spray Tanning - Customer Not Satisfied

Hi every1,

I have been doing spray tanning for a few months now and since i have been up and running i havent had any complaints.

I done 3 people lastnite - I spoke to them all this morning and they all had a complaint. (Not in a horrible way - just letting me know as i asked if they liked it).

1. Fingers are orange - I assume that is her touching her skin when tan is still wet as I dont no how I could get that on her fingers.

2. Streak on her thigh - this must be me - does this mean i must have missed a bit

3. thighs are lighter than lower leg? i dont no how i could have managed this! i hold the gun the same distance throughtout the whole tan. Any ideas?

Sounds like i had a bad nite!

no 3 has asked me to go back and re-spray her 2mo. How would i do this just spray the tops of her thighs - will this then match up wiht the bottoms? Also she wanted the colour darker - if she asks when i am there to respray her whole body do i use the same %. I used an 8% would i then spray her again with an 8?? I am hoping she doesnt want a full respray!!

Hi Hayley,
1) defiantly seems to be customer touching the skin before the solution has fully set....if they touch before the tan is fully developed they will have a transfer problem..the hands (like soles of the feet) have a thicker layer of skin than elsewhere and this absorbs DHA like a sponge)
It is difficult one to get across to the customer as they will tell you "i never touch myself" however what they do in their sleep they don't know.
Ask them to moisturise their hands well before going to bed..at least this will give them some form of barrier protection during the night
2) This defiantly is a case of application...and I suspect to much solution applied.
3) again an application problem here..depending on what the complaint is its either to little(missed areas) or to much applied.

What is the lighting like around the spray area last night??

Can I ask if you usually tan at night, because perhaps your lighting was different than you usually have during the day and you may not have been able to see all areas as clearly.

The paler thighs - I've had this when I tanned my friend. We think its because she put her trousers on that were quite tight around her thighs afterwards, could it be that ?? The streak is probably down to you perhaps and the fingers will definitely be them touching their skin. I would probably just go over her again lightly at 8 more on thighs, it will darken her all over then aswell xxxx

The lighting wasnt as good as i would have hoped but i am mobile so have to work with what i have got! It was the only room in the house to do it in so just had to do my best - maybe this was the prob - i thought i had covered everywhere but obvioulsy didnt see some - oops!!

I am going to try and stick to daytimes for better lighting, so will need to approach these clients who are not working during the day

Maybe get yourself a set of clip on lamps to use at customers premises...or a miners lantern that you strap to your head :lol:

Sienna x supply them or Ikea or many wholesalers out there.
Ensure you get Low Voltage ones though.
Think safety when it comes to lighting around a spraytan area :hug:

The tops of the thighs may appear lighter because this area tends to be paler than the lower leg due to less exposure. If the original skin tone is pale to start with this will effect to final outcome. e.g. the inside of arms tend to be paler that the outside, before and after a spray tan.

Just a thought!

Also if all these clients came together for their tans then all it takes is for one person to find a fault and it becomes contagious! Don't beat yourself up about it, if you have been doing well for months then I'm sure you are doing a fine job. It's always good to get reassurance though so hope this helps a wee bit.
