Hi everyone,

This is my very first post on this fabulous site so please be gentle .

I did my Spray Tan training with Tantrick a few weeks ago and it was fab. Since then I have been practicing on guinea pigs from my husbands work to build my confidence up.

Anyway, the issue I have is when I am spraying the arms and hands I panick incase I dont spray off to my 'y' at the wrists early enough or too early and end up with the bottom of the arm either done too much or not enough! Everything else is fab and I really feel confident but its just this bit that gets me every time and worry after doing the tan so much until they get back to me with feed back on how it has turned out (which most dont do ).

I hope this makes sense and hope someone can give me some advice on how to deal with this.

Thank you :Kissing:

If you have too much spray ~ turn your gun down down a tad.

If you feel you have sprayed too much to the point the client is wet, wipe over with tissue and spray again.

Just ensure as you going over the arms to move the gun back away from the arm to get a lighter misting.

Hiya, I would give your trainer a call.........it seems that every trainer has a slightly different routine/technique and by asking others who may use a different one you may end up confused. I only say this as I have looked at several videos etc. and none of them were identical to how I was shown so I have instead emailed my trainer.
It does sound like your just lacking in a bit of confidence, I'm sure you're doing fine.

You are absolutely right here ...every company has different techniques they teach...all be it only minor differences like some recommend the use of barrier creams and some don't.

Blondie if you have undertaken training with Tantrick and whilst in the early stages of your business you are best advised to stick with the techniques shown during your training...once your fully up and running and have gained experience through usage your confidence levels will improve which is the natural time to start experimenting with adapting the techniques you have been taught.

Remember as part of your tantrick training your educator is available for you to call one on an ongoing basis

Oh and last but not least...if your not hearing anting negative back from those customers you have spray tanned thus far...well you must be doing things right as rest assured if you have not done so they would soon let you know

Blondie tantrick gave you the right method y shape but I get the same greenrwith the feet, when I question my routine I tend to spray slow and thats what gives you the build up, the routine doesnt feel like the back of you hand "ha ha the wine again" so and another one for ms jen smith get couch roll use a pants hanger, ah hang it up and use water, practice he routine. confidence will help you.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I do agree it is more a confidence issue and the fear of doing the hands adn wrist area wrong and it looking rubbish. Since I posted, I have a couple of feedback from people I have sprayed and it has been excellent! Great colour, no patches or streaks etc, and they are recommending me to family and friends so this has helped my confidence no end!

I think with more practice I can overcome this. I do spray the arms and hands the way I have been trained but still panic a bit when I get to the bottom of the wrist. Its not so much overspray either as I have my gun turned down low and dont have running or anything. Maybe if I turn it down a little more so its just a very light mist on this area, do you think this would help?

Thanks again everyone, your advice is very much appreciated.

If you are happy with the results to the rest of the body I would leave your gun setting just as it is.

As already mentioned simply pull the gun further away from the area you are having problems with so that it only gets a misting rather than a full application and then adjust the distance accordingly.

It really is simply a case of usage and experimentation.

Im confident you will get there in the end

PS just out of intrest how much solution are you using on a full body application?

Hi Collin,

When I first started out I was using near 100mls (I know far too much) but have since got that down to under 60mls in the last couple of people I have spray tanned, so I am getting near the 50mls average. I do a light mist before I finish too to make sure I have covered everything.

That's quiet normal and pretty good going in just a couple of months.
Maybe experiment with turning the gun a qtr turn down every couple of weeks and or perhaps speed up the movement across the body.

50mls not bad but try and get it down just that bit more...35mls is a good target to aim for and im sure your going to get there:hug:

Hi Blondie know where u are at with the wrist thing. In the early days just put a buffing mitt/sock on you left hand (and spray gun in other)and then cover their palm with mitt as ur spraying down, you're then sure the 'overspray' wont go over the palm. But, also I think a natural tan doesn't need to come all the way down to the palm is should fade slightly so don't worry. It just shows you care and this will bring you lots more business. Good luck :Grope:

Blondie your technique sounds just fine hun and the feedback is proving that,
keep doing what you are doing and move a bit quicker (you will use less solution)

Thank you to everyone for the great advice. I will certainly try these out. I will turn my gun down slightly and move faster as I would like to be using less solution if possible.

Loubylou, I do use the technique I was trained to do and hopefully in time with practice, it will all come good for me.

I did see one lady I spray tanned the other day and she was well happy and looked great even though she still hadnt washed the colour guide off 2 days later lollll!!

Thanks again everyone, this site is just great for oldies and newbies like me to gain valuable information!
