Hi all, just looking for a bit of advise on how to get my staff more motivated. I was looking at the option of offering commission but not sure what percentage and wether to offer it on treatments or just retail or both. Also i was concerned that they will be competing too much with eachother if i offer this. has anyone else offered commission.
I was also looking at doing up performance sheets??
Any other ideas you fellow geeks may have which would get my staff more motivated would be greatly appreciated and i think this will be a great thread for ideas..
I really need to get my staff to get customers rebooking have you any suggestions on how to get them to do this??
Because this is the busiest time of the yr for us i really want to ensure we can get these clients returning for the winter also which is why im looking into this now.

will be intresting to see the ideas you all have and thanks in advance for your help :D

I use to work in a salon and if we made over a certain amount a month (£300) in products we got 10% commission. We also did it for treatments (£1000 worth) and got a certain percentage (I cant remember what though). It would also mean your staff would have clients that will only rebook with them. It was good because it got us motivated throughout the month especially end of month before pay day!! You could also give them prizes at the end of each quarter maybe products if they earn over a certain amount! hope this helps xx

How about something pretty easy to do like, "Therapist of the week/month" - You could have a frame in reception with a little plaque under/above it saying "Therapist of the week/month, then all the clients will see it, so the therapist is being noted by all for her hard work etc.
Which will make the therapist more motivated as everyone can see!
The therapist could get either an extra £25 (for example) bonus or/& voucher for treatment, payed day off.
This could be based on sales, repeat bookings, etc
You could even say to your staff, the therapist at the end of each year who gets therapist of the month the month gets an extra payed week off work.
Just an idea, for you x

The tiered system is better, e.g. 10% for min £300 retail and £1000 for treatments but you need to work out at what point it is worth your while (and your business can afford it) to give incentives.
Monitor what each therapist is doing now, work out what they would need to increase sales by so you can give a % without it costing you anything.
Are you doing anything for clients? to promote loyalty?

Thanks for the replys. I have only 2 staff so i dont think that therapist of the month would work out too good but it is actually a very good idea if i do expand. I do think commission would work but as you said stevie maybe i should do commission once they sell a certain amount because they will obviously sell a certain amount each month without even trying. The dermalogica i must say sells itself so i just wanted to encourage them to sell even more rather than giving commission on sales that just walk in knowing what they want already.

Yes we do client loyalty. If a customer has 6 treatments over a 6 month period they get the 6th treatment free. This only applies if they get the same treatment 6 times. eg 6 spray tans. 6 hollywoods. I find this stops customers 'trying out' the salon down the road.

Any other suggestions are welcome. and thank you the help so far x
