Hello all
Im new to the site, so please forgive me if Im posting in the wrong place (and somebody please point me in the right direction if so!)

Ive had an interest in all things nails related for a good few years now, but finally put it in my mind that Id like to do something about it! Im 23 and married for almost 4 years. We have a 9 month old son and baby number two on the way in December!

Ill be starting off from scratch, but will hopefully be aiming high, and my ultimate dream is to be my own boss when the hubby and I move back overseas in a few years time.

I hope that Ill be able to get some wise advise from all you 'Nail Geeks'! Which is the best way to start out in the industry? Which providers offer the best training?

Are there any companies who offer help with paying for courses i.e. by installments, or do you know of any organisations who offer funding?

I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Love Chinchi

Hi hun for the best training you can get you need to go to creative nail academy in leeds, their number is 0845 210 6060
if you are getting any benefits your adviser can help you, sometimes they help out with the costs

hi there! I think you will find that CND offer the best training and education and it may be worth your while speaking to your local job centre...they may be able to help you out with funding for a course or put you in the right direction as to who can.

You will get lots of OPINIONS on who provides the best training, but please bare in mind, they are just that, OPINIONS not fact.

You need to research all of the companies available and decide which one of them meets your needs/requirements. Do searches on here re:training/products/funding etc etc. You will find this site invaluable.

Reading Sassy guide (link from Judy) is the best place to start.

Good luck and welcome to the site.

CND have won 3 awards for the best training and education in this industry...does that make it opinion....or FACT!

NSI and other companies have also won similar awards.

As far as i am aware CND are the only training provider to win awards for their education programme,
year after year.

I would certainly read the link that was posted that shows many different options.

If funding is an issue, then maybe doing a part time evening college course would be a little more affordable?

As long as you choose a training provider that is respected within the industry and that you can easily obtain insurance for, then you should be set. It is your first leap into the industry after all.

Everyone has a personal opinion on who's the best at this and that, but as you are starting out, read the info and the ring each of the companies and ask for training information. Sit down with a cuppa and read through them all and see which one you are most interested in and is going to fit best for you, with regards to location and lifestyle etc.

Congrats on your new decision and do let us all know how you go on.
You can even post pictures of your nails on the boards for other geeks to give some honest opinions on.

Best wishes

here, we suggest the ppl who are interested in working in nail business to even go to the nail schools/college as a model, to see how good/bad the education provided it.

we'd been kinda spying, sending *troops* to habe their nails done at some schools just to see if the process (our school) was respected, and what the educator do, what she checks, etc. if you can, do that, you'll also notice there are places you feel better in, etc etc etc.

This is also my understanding.

You could start by getting one of the industry magazines, say Scratch for example - Scratch - The Forum For Nail Professionals... - there will be details on most of the nail companies. Try contacting as many of them as you are interested in and get their training details.

When analysing what you get for your money you need to compare apples with apples - how many days, what kit is included in the price etc. etc. Dont just go by the price alone.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Why not get the perspective for your local colleges and go for a chat with them have a look round etc?? I trained with creative at college and loved it...correct me if im wrong but the most popular systems are creative ezflow and nsi???xxx

Thankyou all so much for your great replies. Sorry I didnt have chance to reply sooner, my little boy has been ill this week  so my time has been taken up by him!

Will certainly look into the different providers, although I must admit, Creative was the one that has been sticking in my mind. Helping with funding is vital if I want to go ahead before we move back abroad, so hopefully Ill be able to get help from that perspective somehow!

Once again many thanks, and I look forward to updating you with my progress!
