Hi, I'm just wondering what people think about setting up on your own? I've done my manicure & pedicure and currently doing nail technician course. Really want to start on my own but wonder if people think i should work in a salon first to get experience?

Maybe do half and half? It can't hurt. That way you get a bit of variety.

Even though I've never worked in a Salon (I'm about to own one though) I can only expect that you'll encounter a number of different scenarios which can only help you with your development. You'll also get so much support and training from the people you'll be working with.

And when you work from home, you call the shots, which is always nice!

HTHs xx

If youv'e had your training & feel confident and have had lots of practise then why not?? Only you can be the judge on how good your treatments are! If you feel ready go for it! GOOD LUCK! x

good luck! theres lots to think about - insurance, product companies, marketing, paying your own tax and national insurance contributions, health & safety (your own personal safety as well as the clients!)

If you make a list of everything you need, I find this helps! and check out local courses for help with tax and becoming self employed, I;m doing one on thursday and its free!

best of luck xx

Thanks for all your messages - just gotta make a decision now!!
