Sterilising brushes

Hi All

I've just bought a new brush for eyelash tinting. Having used it once (I have used an orange stick for about the last 10 years), I realised I don't know how to sterilise it. Any ideas? Or do I not need to sterilise if it has only touched the lashes? But then what happens if I accidentally touch the skin? Maybe I should just go back to the trusty old orange stick!!

Hi hun

I wondered this too as I also use mine for grooming brows when waxing. I pop mine in barbicide just to be on the safe side

HTH's and if anyone else can shed any light on whether this is the right thing to do or if a spritz with a sanitiser spray is enough, that would be great

You aren't doing invasive surgery so you don't need to sterilise any of your tools, sanitising is sufficient.

If I need to sanitise a brush of any kind...I ususally clean, swirl well in surgical spirit, then rinse well and dry.

That's why I put mine in Barbicide

I change my barbicide daily so at the end of the day I leave them to air dry.

Do you find barbicide discolours the hairs of some brushes? I do....the lighter coloured ones anyway.

Thats why I use surgical spirit now....well, I always have on make-up brushes so it seemed to make sense to do it for all others.

I found Barbicide does discolour the brushes although this isn't a problem it doesn't look too good. I use milton for sponges & brushes now.
