Stick tips too big for rings

How do I cut them down so they will fit x

I was told to cut them at an angle,
But I still found I couldn't get some of them in! Maybe cut then heat them up a bit and roll them a bit thinner?

Ahh it's a bugger isn't it. I'm cutting them all now if I come across that problem tomorrow ill get my heating tool out x
