Hi there. Really hope some of you professionals can help. I suddenly have acquired a kind of sticky/greasy film to my hair that won't wash out. Strange thing is its not from the roots at all, it just seems to be on the top layer of hair. It's abit like i've put far too much wax on it. I've washed it loads and it stays exactly the same. Pretty please can anyone help??

try a chelating or clayrifying shampoo, if you don't have one, ring your local salon about a clarifying treatment.

what shampoo and conditioner do you use?

some shampoos can leave a film on your hair or a build up of product can do this also

I use VO5 for dry damaged hair and once a week their hot oil as I have lightened hair and use straightners alot. Thing is I've used these shampoos for years and it came on suddenly - could that be these products?

sounds like build up hun like jeni says you need a good build up remover/ clarifying shampoo....clynols clear is great....waxy products are so hard to get out of the hair with normal shampoo as the wax in the products is so hard to break down....
also make sure your shampooing twice...once lifts the dirt....second removes the dirt.....but get a clarifying shampoo first to remove the build up.

yep i would say a clarifying shampoo too, to get rid of any build up

Thanks for your advice guys, you all seem to be of the same opinion. I'll hopefully be back to beautiful hair days in no time

You should definitely try Purify by Rusk. It deeps cleanses the hair and it is also very good for the scalp, so you get a bonus.

it may help to do a dry shampoo - that is putm the shampoo on and rub in before adding water - then shampoo as normal

soap sririts is great too
