Hiya Geeks, i wonder if any of you can help me.......I want a photograph of the night sky that I can get blown up to a poster for my hubby......as some of you will know my hubby serves on Submarines and he really misses being able to see the sky for the 3-4 months he's away...I want to get him a poster to stick above his bunk....I've tried to take a photo myself without success..
Could any of you point me in the direction of where I could get a suitable picture or even where I could buy a poster already done.

Thanks, Lou xx

I know of online stock photo companies such as Fotolia.co.uk - Royalty Free Stock Photos and Stock Photography: Search Royalty Free Images & Photos - although in order to print out at a decent resolution, you'd probably find that a single pic was quite expensive...

Maybe you could have a Google for other companies on line who actually sell printed posters rather than online images - maybe even Amazon might... then it might be worth having a check "in town" too, e.g. shops like "The Works" often sell posters etc.

Go on ebay and type "posters night sky" into the search bar and there are about 60 to choose from, some are very cheap too, hth x

and for the record i think your gift idea is great

Thanks, I had a look on ebay and thought I'd found the perfect one.....it's a handpainted one that glows......which would be fab but because they work 6 on 6 off, there's always someone in bed, so never any light to charge it up! Boooo!
Lou, he gets really quite sentimental......the night before he goes we have to have the bloody curtains open so he can look at the sky!!!

Ruth I've had a look a Fotolia and they have just what I'm looking for......if I bought the 16mp one what size do you think I could get it printed up to for it to be reasonable quality? I've looked at lots of poster sites and they're either dead expensive or not what I'm looking for......plus I need to get it quite quickly as he's due home for a couple of days any time and will be going again more or less straight away. The town I live in doesn't have much at all.....I'd need to go to Glasgow and I really can't face it!!!

Thanks for your help, Lou xx

The glow in the dark ones hun - my best friend's dad actually hand paints them ( not sure if it is his advert you have seen or not ) They are so amazing when they glow and in the day, you literally can't tell.

I have some fab shots of the beach at sunset which I took recently, if you think he would like one of them, I would be happy to mail you a few over to have printed :)

Jodrell Bank, the observatory in Cheshire has a web site and shop, they may have what you are looking for.

What a great thing to do for your hubby x
