Can anyone help me? at home and at college (done NVQ level 2, starting level 3 next week) i use warm wax with spatulas and strips but in my part time job in a salon i have to use Australian Bodycare tube wax.

Had a really bad day today. The tubes had been heating for ages so the wax must have been hot enough but i couldn't seem to get the wax to flow and spread smoothly.

Also, i seem to really struggle to apply it properly unless i use a completely new tube every time. I can't get the hang of squeezing it up when it's only partly full.

For my training, my boss had me do her legs while she talked me through it (I also watched her wax a client first) and it was ok then as i used a full tube and she was expecting me to be a bit slow but i feel like my skills have deteriorated rather than improved! Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks

I only use a spatula but I'll try to help you. It sounds like the wax is cooling too quickly. Do you take the tube out of the heater and then cover the entire aare (for example the entire lower front leg) and then replace the tube in the heater. Try that way and you may find that the wax stays at the right temp. xx

i wasn't able to cover a large area today as it just wasn't flowing properly and i kept having to do fairly small areas and then replacing the tube in the heater in an attempt to soften the wax more.

What a nightmare. Dump it and go back to the spatuala. Much easier and cheaper. xxx

I suppose your boss is thinking that the 'tube thing' is faster? You need to let her know that you are not coping with it. As you will only find yourself getting all flustered and embarrassed in front of your clients. Not worth the hassle!x

Hello hun!
I have trained in this product. How many tubes do you have on the go? They do cool down quite quickly so i usually use one whilst another is heating and swap between the two. As soon as you finish applying the wax, squeeze the sides of the tube. This will suck the wax back in so it does not cool down in the head of it.
Also when you are applying the wax, dont press down hard on the skin.It should be a very light and quick movement. Smooth any thicker bits of wax (at the sides) out with the head.
Application with this system does take practice and a bit of time to get used to. Stick with it hun and you will pick it up!!!!

Hope this made sense so hard to write but so easy to demonstrate lol xxx

i have 2 tubes on the go so i can switch between them if the one i'm using starts to cool down. the movement is certainly not "light and quick" as you say! wish it was but i have to squeeze the tube and press hard to apply.

My boss won't get a normal wax heater in for me to use the usual warm wax and spatula system (we do have a mini one with mini spatulas for facial use) so i absolutely have to master this!

Ok firstly what temperature is the wax on ? I have the new heater and I have it on about 4 - 5 to start with (say for a leg wax) then when Ive started turn the temp up to the highest.

I don't mean to sound rude but are you good at waxing? do you enjoy it? Are you normally quick with the pot & spatula ? The reason I ask is that as you are still quite new to waxing you may not have fully developed your skills. I was awful, truly awful at waxing when I was at college and hated the pot system as soon as I started using tubes I got better and when I discovered ABC thats when everything clicked into place.

I honestly think the wax is not hot enough as I never have a problem with mine and even get my boyfriend to apply the wax to the back of my legs and it glides on no problems.

If you really can't get the hang of it ask for more training with your manager, there is also an abc training dvd.

I bet nearly all therapists dislike a certain wax system. I would never use the pot again and I wouldn't work anywhere that used it so I respect the opinions of people that don't like the tube or roller system hopefully your manager will to

Hi
You would be better doing a Waxing Finishing School which is a 1 day course and covers all the different methods of waxing including tube.
I did one:lol: and it was brill

I'm thinking that it may be not hot enough as it should come out without any problems as long as the head isnt blocked.
I'm guessing that it's not coming out when it isnt full as it's sticking to the insides as it isnt warm enough to run down. xxx
