can anyone out there tell me what one is allowed to use from the web? If you find graphics from a search via something like google/images are they in the public domain to the extent that they can be used without contravening copyright etc? What about images found on peoples websites such as shots of a model's hand / nails on, for example, the OPI web site - are you allowed to copy and use them? (I'm not talking about images incorporating logos!).
Any help that anyone could offer on this subject would be gratefully received.

Any images found on the net belong to the website creator. If you copy them without consent and then use them for public display that is breaking the copyright law........It's like going through someones photoalbum and just taking a piccie out without asking for the persons consent...................
But there is nothing stopping you emailing the web owner and asking them if it is ok to use any of their images.....they usualy agree as long as there is a reference to the ownership..as in pictures with courtesey of and then the name....It's the right thing to do........
