Ok I'm a 190% matrix lover, some of you may know some might not, but lately I don't know weather it's me or what but I'm getting bored of using the same products for everyone, I feel limited on choice!

Anyone else find this?

Do you mean styling products? Why not try something a bit more attractive to customers? I know you stock biolage which is a good quality treatment range, but what about trying something more cosmetic? Big sexy hair/tigi etc. I know they aren't as good as the more expensive brands but I think it's good to stock more than one range and appeal to more people.

Yeah, I've got design pulse but there isn't really much to it...I get bored easily lol I would do tigi but it's quite expensive and this is Dudley :( x

To be honest the price points on tigi aren't that far off design pulse. I like design pulse but i do feel its just a reincarnation of loreal techni art and they are missing a unique selling point something to make people say i have to have it!

I was never really sold on Design Pulse to be honest.

When I started using Matrix the Trix line really stood out as a point of difference for me. It was affordable for clients and offered all the essentials they might need at more or less supermarket prices. If I recall it was between £6-£7 per product. This sat nicely with the essentials line of shampoo and conditioner which was a similar price. Biolage was a step up for more premium clients.

Then they discontinued trix and brought out design pulse a few months later. Similar product, new black packaging and a price increase of almost 100% in some instances.

Design Pulse for me has never sat in a "market". For it's price, a client could afford more premium lines such as Tec-Ni-Art (indeed, some Tec-Ni-Art products retail cheaper despite much better marketing support and advertising).

I think this gap has widened even more since they repackaged sleek.look etc. into cheaper packaging with a retail price of £5.99. Now, all of a sudden, the client's shampoo which repairs her hair is recommended at £5.99 but the wax to style it costs over £10? To me, those prices reflect 2 different markets but the interns at L'Oreal marketing dept. seem to think they apply to the same target category?

Also, the imagery used for Design.Pulse is at complete odds to the imagery used throughout the rest of Matrix. Matrix models tend to be 25+. Design Pulse is 18-25. That only works when one range has everything their target group need. Someone who is attracted to the Design Pulse packaging has no option for a similarly packaged wet line. So they tend to buy one or the other (clients need to feel good when they see these products lined up on their bathroom shelf).

I personally think that the packaging for Design Pulse is rather dull and boring ... if you buy 3 products you will end up with a "sea of black" on your dressing room table. It's not one they really thought through from a consumer point of view in terms of packaging or price.

Hi Blue

Well we have just had our new pearls delivered today as the rep came in Tuesday, with regarding Design pulse our rep told us there is new products out next month in DP a new volumising dry shampoo for creating instant root lift and also a whole new FAB Total results selection for treatments, sounds FAB and we love total results, but he said he had a matrix meeting next week and will know more then, so hang on x

So I asked this question and mine knew nothing...think I'll phone salon supplies tomorrow and ask the women in charge x

Sexy hair is fairly new in this country and I love it!! Lots of choice x

Cannot suggest anything, as far as retail goes I am a Matrix girl all the way but...

Agree with all said about Design Pulse I think it is really cheap looking packaging, it is trying to be edgy but fails miserably - I like a few of the products...Thermo Glide, Mega Dust, Beach Clay and Zoom Force but generally for me it is a failure.

I love Biolage, but find the styling range very lacking, maybe they should concentrate on the wet stuff and move styling to a specialised range. Maybe merge Vavoom and Design Pulse into to one specialised styling range with classy packaging at the same DP price.

Total Results is fine for what it is and our Matrix rep told me there will be a Curly range added to Total Results this year which would be great and I would love a Salt Spray as part of this.

Don't you wish they asked us, the pros who actually use the stuff!

Has anyone ever had a serious conversation with a product company where you feel they are taking your views/needs on?

I'm just gonna have to shut up and put up I think!! Might get more total results slowly but I really miss the old amplify blowdry gel amazing!! I just wanna stay matrix but if it doesn't start to sell I might have to change x

What make of salt spray does everyone use? I have a lady who swears by a salt bar that she gets from a health shop!😃

I always liked loreal playball beach fizz but I think it might just be the smell lol
Used label m and it's not bad but not amazing and it smells like salt (funny that haha)

Well I have to say, I am in love with Matrix products ( thanks to you Blue ) but design pulse really didn't do anything for me. I don't like the packaging, it's too sticky and it's overpriced. I can totally justify the cost of biolage shampoos, conditioners and treatments ( they are lush ) but a styling product , I can't justify the cost. I have also used loads of styling products, I love Osmo, I like the packaging, it's not at all sticky and very reasonably priced. :) xxx

I'm gonna try more total results but I do love waxes and hairsprays in DP mega dust and kind of spray wax. X

Omg omg omg omg I literally just screamed...woke the dog and scared my other half to death when I found this out.....Total Results are launching a Repair range! It looks beautiful!! I wanna scream some more!

I love Tigi session salt spray! Smells lush too. I got a bit of hair in my mouth yesterday with the wind and I could taste the salt! Not that it's a selling point or anything lol x
