Hi

I offer Warm Waxing to my clients, i have a new client who asumed that i would be sugaring (i think this is what she is used to). I have never used sugaring and don't know too much about it. What do you think is better Warm Waxing or Sugaring?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Joe90 offers sugaring as well as waxing, she would be able to explain it all to you hun,
send her a PM

I have a client who comes to me for nails/tinting and she has had her legs sugared for years, she insists that it suits her better than waxing, she has very few hairs after keeping up to them for 10yrs +. I think it is a similar result to waxing although everyone will have their own opinion on which they prefer/think is better. xx

With respect Lou.....this is a forum, so it would be nice if we could all read the answers.

Yes, I am a sugaring practitioner aswell as a waxer and in all honesty sugaring and waxing are very similar just the application and removal is different with traditional hand sugaring, you can also get good and not so good in whichever method the therapist uses.

You will find those ladies who have had sugaring for years swear by it and to a certain degree and on certain areas of the body it can be a little less painful than waxing, legs in particular. If I am feeling a little out of sorts and I don't want to be waxed then I will use traditional sugaring methods on myself.

Sugaring practitioners are so few and far between that it may be a good thing to offer in addition to waxing but I wouldn't do a sugaring course over a waxing course as I think you may limit your market a little more as most people have never heard of sugaring. It is a nice little additional service though.

For someone wanting to try sugaring..... Which paste would you recommend as a good one to start with?

I tried making my own. Seemed pretty good.... removed hair nicely, think I got the hang of the basic technique. But my hands warm up very quickly.... so I had about 3 minutes of success before the ball became a sticky mess on my leg lol.

Hmm, thinking about it, the recipe called for white sugar. I only had demerara, could this cause me a problem with ball melting?

I am aware of Zahra and Sukar, but they each have different pastes in their ranges. ie soft, hard, supersoft.....

Any idea which one would be best for me to start with?

OK, if your hands become a little warm, try adding a little more paste into the mix and it should help out a little. alternatively just put your hand into a little water to cool and then off you go again. Also before using hand sugaring, you should have some talc on the skin first.

In terms of paste consistency I have used sukar hard and soft hand sugar and a lot depends on the time of year as to which one I use. Soft in the winter, hard in the summer. However I found that Zahra sugar paste is workable for longer and doesn't tend to 'stick' the same.

I tend to wax now rather than sugar but as I said I do have some die hard sugaring clients who won't change for love, money or bribery lol.

Thanks for the advice..... your time's appreciated chick

I always got from any kind of the wax little pimples and irritations , especially on the top of my lip , I never have any from the sugar paste . I love it .
