Suggestions? Gel shrinking on nails

Strange really.. had it happen twice both on a set of overlays on natural nails. once iv done all the prep etc once i place the gel onto the nail it shrinks even before i can get it under the lamp to sure. it was as if the nails dont like the gel....
any ideas?

Hi I used to find this with bio sculture. It used to happen more if it was a very dark colour or if it was very warm. I used to do two nails at a time to get them curring quicker to prevent shrinking. xx

I have thought of that but literally once iv done then second nail n gel has already started shrinkin on the nail :s mainly away from the cuticle area x
