Summer Theme Competition

Anyone got any idea's I could use for a summer theme. I have to do nails, hand and arm.

I have had a brilliant idea, which looks lovely when drawn but it looks rubbish on the nails the hand and arm looked really good though.

The idea I had was coloured kites (standard diamond shape) on the nails on a blue (sky) enamel, with swirls of white (clouds) - a kind of marble effect, with the kite 'string' entwined around the finger, then i was going to do 3 flowers on the wrist with green vines/leaves crawling up the side of the hand with a bee or two 'flying' out from the flowers. (see my profile pics for the rough idea's)

It all looked good except the nails, they look dull and boring with the kites on them and I want more focus to go onto them than the arm/hand.

Any suggestions what I could do? (A total different idea, or a 'customised' version of the one above, anything would be a great help!!)

It would have been good to see a pic of nails. Where you thinking kites on each nail. Personally I wouldn't do more then one. What about instead of flowers/vines, you do tree branches. As in a kite stuck in a tree. You can bring that down to the nails as well, leaves, birds etc.

You could make the nails flowers and have stems and leaves down the hand and arm with the bees.
Nails with bucket and spades on and sand castles with little flags and the hand and arm can be the sea.

Very nice! What products are you using for the body art incidentally? I may be able to help you on that side of things; I've been doing body painting for nearly 8 years now.

Shame I haven't got especially long nail beds - this is exactly the sort of competition I'd love to model for.

At the moment I am just practicing on my own arm, hand and nail's with just water based paint (as thats all I have), My next question would have been 'what paint should I use on skin?' hehe.

Thanks for the ideas... I was thinking about doing music as a theme... maybe music notes on the finger nails and up the fingers... and maybe a silhoutte (sp?) of a crowd on the hand and arm or instuments, but unsure if it would be classed as summer?

Ah right cool. I will have a look at my box of body paints later and see if I have any spare colours I could send you if that would help.

Let me know nearer the time if you'd need me - is the comp in Blackpool? I would need a few days notice to book the day off work...

That is a lovely offer but I wouldn't like to put you to any cost! Where do you buy your paints from?

It isn't in Blackpool this time, its for the 'Showcase' at college in Bolton :green:

I wouldn't worry - it will probably be jars of paint that are almost empty that I would send you anyway - but should have ample left in for a bit of hand/arm art - I just find they clutter my paint boxes up after a while; i need to have a good amount on hand for painting a full body you see.

I get my paints from 3 Kings via mail order anyway, Home - they are fab and will also be able to advise you what you need - they often put together special packages for students on theatrical make-up courses and whatnot.

Bolton is actually less distance than Blackpool, so that is good

ITS ALIVE!

I thought I would drag this thread up again as I need your advice (again!)
I tried many idea's like:​

• Music Notes on the nails, going up the finger, but then get stuck as to what to put on the hand and arm​
• Kites on the nails, strings on the fingers, bee's on the hand and flowers on the arm, but its upside down
• Camp fire, Logs on the wrist with flames up the hand and nails
• Sun's on nails, in different positions and flowers all over hand and arm

My favourite idea at the moment is.....
EURO 2008
Flags on the nails, Italy, France, Netherlands and Romania (easiest flags! and all Group C)
Then on the hand the logo of Euro 2008

Then I am stuck - maybe football's or numbers up the arm...



Any Comment's?
