Hi All, I did a clients nails just before she wnt on holiday, whilst on holiday she experienced her nails going soft and sticky! I know the sun can maybe cause this however i asked her to show me the sun cream she was using whilst away. I noticed in the ingredients it contained Panthenol. Im under the impression that this is what may have caused the nails to go soft and sticky. I have not experienced any problems with my nails on holiday nor too have any other of my clients. What are your thoughts??? Also can anyone advise any other chemicals etc what you think may have caused this other than acetone. Thanks x

i have had some clients experience this.and it is some chemicals in suntan lotion as not all of them can cause this problem.
i found that by applying a finish coat of gel solved the problem though.xx

Thanks for that geeks, good tips for when i do my course in acrylic ill remember that, didnt think suncream would do that.xxx

Thank you so much - this is very useful. I hate not knowing what causes problems with nails it makes me feel really inadequate, i thrive on looking out for new products and have a real passion for nails but when things go beyond my control i feel uncomfortable. I feel much more in control now. Thanks so much guys. x
