Hi,

I'm working through nmy portfolio (NVQ2/IHBC) at the moment and wondered if you could help with putting an answer to the following questions on paper. In my mind i think answers are logical but putting into words is proving difficult.:o

The questions are based on working as a therapist in a salon

a) why is it important to treat everyone equally and how can you ensure this happens.

b) what steps would you take to make sure that your services are available to all sectors of the community?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like it's pointing at perhaps the Disibility Discrimination Act / Equal Opportunities etc...

Ensuring that you send flyers / advertise to everyone and not just selected groups / minorities?

Employing people no matter of their race, sexuality etc?

Might be an idea to google the Disibility / Equal Opportunities Act, it may give you some more professional wording!

Hope this helps.

This is a great help. Thanks a lot.

a) to abide by the equal opportunities and discrimination acts, which you must do by law.

b)to promote to all sectors of the community you could take your business to the sector- ie care homes for the elderly for those who cannot get to the salon
Ensure there is sufficient access to your place of work so that it can be accessed by all, ie: lifts if needed, a ramp to get in if there are steps, double doors for wheelchairs etc.
Ensure you respect cultural beliefs and carry out treatments where restrictions are imposed, ie eyebrow waxing for a person with facial covering.

Promote business by offering talks/demos to different parts of the community
where possible. Distribute leaflets etc.

Hths xx:)

The relationship between client and therapist should be a harmonious one, if you create a rapport with your client she will feel relaxed in your company, confident that she is receiving a professional treatment and more than likely will return for further treatment.

Regular clients should not be taken for granted, they should still be treated as professionally as potential clients.
To maintain return business a salon could offer the following

٭ Create an understanding of the benefits of the treatments you provide and further treatments which you recommend.
٭ Award loyalty bonuses and reward schemes
٭ Stay in touch with clients and inform them of special offers and new treatments
٭ A salon employer/manager may offer staff incentives such as bonuses, incentives, meetings to discuss targets or commission.

I'm doing the same lot of questions as you ive just done this 1 and this is what ive put hpe it helps xXx
