OMG!!! I took the skin off my legs! OK here's the deal. I am teaching hubby to do my waxing and thought I'd start with the legs to get him going good and then move into the intimate areas after a few months or so. Anyway, I've never taken skin off of a client nor have I ever had a client have a bad reaction on the skin. I applied oil atleast twice(my legs were dry) and had the application right and everything. The only thing I can think of is that maybe he applied too much pressure to the strip before pulling it off. Now whats weird is that it only happened on my shins. They were the last section of my legs that we waxed cause I knew it was going the most painful. Every other part of my legs turned out GREAT, but my shins are horrible.

Now let my ask you this: Last time I waxed my legs I got wax rash and it took a whole month to heal, what causes this? And why ar my knees and shins so unbearably painful compared to every other part of my body? I assume its because it is so close to bone and there are more nerve endings there, but its so bad that I refuse to ever wax my knees and shins again, just because of the pain involved. I'll shave my shins, thank you. lol But yeah, my shin on the one leg was swollen even the next day. I stopped after the first shin was waxed and told hubby I would shave the other.

Why am I so reactive to a wax service? I've never, THANK GOD, had this happen to a client. I'm just wondering what I did wrong or what the heck is wrong with my skin?

Oh dear:hug: bet there sore. If he applied the oil and the wax correctly, the only thing that is springing to mind so to speak is his removale:idea:. If he removed in more of an upward action, or went over the area with the wax once to many hun, ie twice can be enough for some with delicate skin, this could result in the skin being removed from your shins hun. (ouch coming out in sympathey )

In regards to the erathema lasting a month, u are obviously a very sensitive lady, or possibly even allergic to the product u are using. Jen recommended a really good cream, again i have forgot what it is called ( because i am blonde) and this maybe the answer to your problem hun. Sorry i could not be any more helpfull but i am sure others may be able to shed some light hun:hug: coming your way for your shins, and perhaps a little aloe vera to soothe themxxxxx

Well it's nice to know you are very special! There is about one in every 5000 people that simply cannot wax. I do not know if this is you or not, but you certainly had an agressive reaction! The only way to tell if it will get better for you is to pick an area to only wax and wax this area every 4 weeks for about 6 months. You also have to use pumice gloves and liquid soap, not bar and start this the next day. Don't use a lot of pressure, but also don't go super light.

I have never had someone I could not get through the service to become a wax client. Yes, sometimes it takes slightly longer, and I have met people who truly could not wax, but it was so few.

I remember one client that when I waxed her legs, turned her over, waxed, turned her back and almost died. It looked like she had an advanced case of poison ivy, she was so swollen! scary. but it went down!

I am assuming you did not wax yourself? If you did, that can't be a good way to see how it can feel, you can't get the angle correct for tge least painful pull. You also may want to try having an experienced hard waxer wax your knees to check, they really shouldn't hurt!

i had this happen on my forearms! i have been waxing them for just over a year and have always been fine, but the last two times i have waxed them i have pulled skin off! it was really painful and i couldn't work out why till i realised i was ripping half my skin off at the same time! I can't work out why i would suddenly start reacting like this, i haven't changed any of my waxing products and using the same technique but im a bit nervous to try again!

Ive just had a client this evening who regularly has her arms waxed (not by me) but came to me as her regular salon was closed. Now im not that familiar with waxing arms as never had anyone ask for it. So, as I started to wax I noticed some of the skin was ripping (only slightly, but still worrying:eek:) My client explained that this was the normal reaction and she actually normally bruises!!! Would it just be because the skin is more delicate??? or was i doing something wrong??
xXx

I would presume that if she has said to you that she normally reacted like that that it probably isn't anything that you have done.
This is why I am so puzzled by my experience as I have always done my own, used the same products, but only the last two times reacted this way! I don't understand why after a year I would start reacting when I have always been fine!

Thats the thing though. He did NOT apply the oil OR the wax, I DID. I use Perron Rigot and have always had good results with it. And its not that I can't wax at all, because I have been getting my Brazilian done for the past 4 months with no problems. Now I DO have the immediate "poison ivy" type rash that comes up and swelling, but only on my legs and it goes away the next day. So yes, I guess I AM very special, lol. And as far as his pull.....I explained thoroughly how to do it and he pulled perfectly. I'm not big on pain at all and if I did not have faith in him I would not have let him pull. He's the type of guy if you explain it then he goes by it word for word. He did everything right, in my eyes. He just pulled, I applied everything. So who knows.

Perron rigot is an amazing wax hun , but buy the sounds of the above it really is not agreeing with u. Can i ask when u do your own brazillion do u use the same wax hun or the hot wax as this could explain a few things. There may be something in the product that simply does not agree with u. Either that or your skin on your legs is just so dry, hence the layers coming off and the inflammation that is arrising. Perhaps have a try like the us wax queen has suggested and see if it makes a difference.
Your hubby sounds fab, i wish mine would give me a brazillion, mind he would get carried away and we would end up with wax in areas there shouldn't be lol:lol::lol::green:. Let us no how u go, u speciel lady:hug:xxx

If you're using Perron Rigot anyway, try their Cristalline non strip wax which doesn't contain rosin. I have a feeling that this would suit you fine. Let us know. xxx

I have the Cristaline and its an awesome wax, but I've found it doesn't work well on my course hair. As far as the type of wax on my Brazilian, I don't do my own, but the girl who has done it before I think actually used the Ocean or something like that from Perron Rigot. This is interesting to me, so I'm gonna start looking into all this. Guess there's a first time for everything right? My legs are just a freak of nature right now, lol. I always knew there was something weird about them .

Thanks so much ladies!
