Hi geeks,
I sprayed my friend yesterday at 2pm told her she could bath around 9:30 but did say I myself like to leave it on overnight. She rang to say it was all off. Have i gave the right advice or maybe because i had the gun dial not opened enough sprayed close & gave her an 8 as she ir really fair.....Can someone tell wer ive went wrong thanks ;)

What solution did you use, this happened on me with LA 8 when I sprayed a friend on monday, also is ur friend pregnant, or on any hormone medication. You also need to check to see if your friend moisturised or used baby oil in the hours leading up to the spray tan. These can act like a barrier and prevent the tan from absorbing into the skin.

Even if there was something on the skin, the tan would have penetrated it to a degree, I always leave on a min of 10 hours but usually overnight. The dha carries on developing for 24 to 48 hours anyway so she may get up this morning and say hey.........

Has she used some kind of sunless tanning products before and they have been ok? Did you check meds etc? If she is pregnant the tan should still take but in first trimester sometimes can be patchy.

Its unusal for the tan to not develop at all but there are a v small percentage of people who do not

Has she used self tanning products before and did all go well before?.

One in a good few thousand wont take to a spray tan.

Could it be also or maybe she is bemused by the initial colour guide washing off...if she is a slow developer her expectations may be the cause here??

Did she have any moisturiser residue on her skin...unlikely cause as the tan would have taken in certain areas where the moisturiser may not have been.

My advice,as always, dont take what your customer is telling you over the telephone as being gospel...always ask them to come in so you can see for yourself what any reported problem "really" are

I had this the other day, I was mortified as I've never had such a problem before! Well i didnt get to see the client with my own eyes as i was away but then i saw a photo and i think although she was lighter then i would have expected she still had a little colour- she had exaggerated, it also turned out she was using a shower gel i usually recommend against. Do you know what products your client used to wash in after the tan?

thanks guys !!! i have sent her a message to ask what she used & also was she in the bath a long period, I would much rather leave it on overnight......From now on do you's think its best to advise any client to leave it on overnight or just carry on saying 8 to 10 hours thank you xx ;)

2 things wrong here

Firstly you advised her to take a bath a big NO NO
Secondly you advised her to take a bath after only 71/2 hours development time
no wonder the tan came off!

surely they did not teach you this on your training?

In fairness i dont think after 7.5 hours instead of the recommended 8 will make that much difference- she should still have colour. Havent you ever got it on you, wiped off immediately and still had to put up with an ugly stain even though you gave it no development time? I know i have!
I agree about the bath though, a shower is ok but clients should avoid a bath for 24 hrs after.
8% is so light anyway, she may not notice the colour as much as she would have liked but also to add, after the guide colour is washed off the tan is still developing- i always advise the client they will be at full colour depth after 24hrs.
Has she got any white bits?

Did you offer her a free spray without even seeing her? If you did, you have possibly just given her and maybe others carte blanche to try it on again - big mistake. I wouldn't ever offer a free spray tan to anyone without seeing the problem first and only when I had exhausted every possible reason for the tan not to develop.

no shes a friend of mine & i gave hera free tan in the 1st place as im still practising.

okey dokey, that's ok then:D

The DHA tends to settle at the bottom of a bottle. It's always a good idea to give the bottle a gentle shake before you use to distribute the DHA. Maybe this could have been the problem!

I think this is the main problem when you hear of this happening. Think it's so easy at the start to forget this, as your head is rushing around trying to think of everything!

Thanks for all the advice.....ive taken a note of everything xx ;)
