Hi,

I sprayed a group of 3 friends, one of whom is a regular client and the other two came to me after her recommendation.

One of the ladies had had 2 previous spray tans by a salon and wanted to try me as she was impressed with her friends tan. Before I sprayed her she told me that after the last 2 tans neither had taken and both washed off completely after the development time and just assumed that the salon she went to wasn't very good.

I double checked that she had done all the correct preparation beforehand and then I used Sienna x 12% on her at her request and she looked absolutely fine immediately after spraying.

The following day I phoned to see how it had taken and she said that this tan had also completely washed off when she showered which was over 9 hours later, but both of her friends tans had come out fine. I popped round to have a look for myself and she didn't even have a tan line where her knicker line was. She was really lovely about and didn't blame me at all but was more concerned that she was unable to tan.

Does anyone know of any reason why she is unable to tan, I know that some women during pregnancy have hormonal imbalances which may cause problems. She did mention to me that she is unable to have children and I didn't want to ask her any inappropriate questions, but wondered if this could maybe affect it dues to her hormones???? Has anyone experienced this kind of thing?

I may be barking up the wrong tree completely so if anyone knows of any other reasons why this may be happening your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also are there any solutions that may work better on people who have problems tanning. I told her I would look into it for her and also it would be handy to know in case this sort of thing crops up again.

I have been tanning for over a year now and this is the first time I have had this happen to a client.

Hi, Ive had this problem in the past with a client, but it was just her face, no tan at all will take to the skin on her face..I was stumped lol. It may have something to do with the natural ph of the clients skin, tan takes better when the skin is more acidic ( i think) lol it's late x

Hiya,

Did u advise the client not 2 use any dove products? Dove washes the tan off, hth xxx

Agree with previous comment regarding Dove.... what happened to you happened to me 6 months ago with a client of mine.... no tan after showering the following day. I was stumped but eventually discovered that she had showered using Dove (with essential oils) and it had completely stripped the tan lol:lol:

Hi there,

Firstly, you can get people who tanning doesn't work on (very few but it is possible). But, had she moisturised before having the tan? What products was she using when she washed after - some are really harsh and actually strip off the top layer of skin or did she exfoliate after?

I have a client whose housemate is DHA resistant and no matter what you put on it wouldn't make a difference (he had even been to the doctors about it a few years ago as he was worried about it) - we have yet to try Tantrick on him but I'm there later this week so I will let you know if it works!

Some people are just DHA resistant and will not tan using a solution containing just DHA. Does your solution contain erythulose as you may well find that a solution containing this and DHA will work.

My business partner is DHA resistant and only tans very slightly with a solution containing erythulose.

However, we have found a tan that will work on her, and after a bit of trial and error she gets a lovely tan but has to leave it on overnight, despite the recommendation that you shower it off after 4 hours.

As previously mentioned if they used dove this is why its happened. Or using moisturizer before the spray tan would act as a barrier and cause the tan to come off.

Ha ha, I think I may have been about to mention the one you are talking about.

The Vani-T Velocity has 4 different bronzing agents so if DHA resistant, then it may be worth a try. I'm sure you will be able to get a sample to try on your client xx
