I soon will be offering spray tanning, but just wanted to ask a few opinons.

My instinct is 'no' to this question but I may as well ask:
do u charge anything-however small, for disposable underwear usage?

also, what products to u have in your bag to sell and what sort of prices do you charge?

Thanks
x

I dont charge for disposable underwear or hair nets. I carry a range of Sienna retail items to sell ie moisturiser, top up tan in a can and exfoliator, I charge them at the RRP set by Sienna...

:) Hi, I dont charge for disposables, I feel they are part of our service. I have stickers for Tantoo's in my bag which I charge extra for if they want one, also I have Moisturiser free soap and exfoliating gloves to sell, Hth. Faye.x

Definatley a no no for charging for disposable underwear, sticky feet, caps etc as this is all part of the service.

It is a good idea to carry a small range of retail items from your chosen brand as these can bring in good additional revenue.

Most definitely wouldn't charge for disposables. If i went to a salon and they charged me i'd think 'how rude'! and i wouldn't go there again.
Make sure you budget them into your price. I have disposable hats, sticky feet, thongs and bras and little sheets for them to stand on when they've finished. Hardly use any bras as the majority go topless. Some will wear their own underwear but i get through a fair few thongs!
I charge £12.50 for spray tans. I personally would never pay £25 or above for a spray tan. In fact i think spray tans in generally are very overpriced. We are trying to steer people away from using sunbeds and still charging in excess of £25 for something that will last for a week!
I do well at this price-i've had over 20 in the last few days and i'm still making over £10 per tan but i'm sure it also depends on what area you live in.

thats ok if you are salon based but I couldnt charge that mobile, by the time you add up the price of solution, disposables, petrol, wear and tear on car, insurance etc etc etc it wouldnt be worth while

Like everyone else says you shouldn't charge for disposables. As for prices you need to carry out some competitor analysis and pitch yourself somewhere in the middle.

Same here I'm not so sure I could even be bothered to start my car for that. xxx

I agree! I charge £25 (including all consumables, the cost of which is hidden in the price of the tan initially) for people I go to as mobile but I do only charge £20 for people at work as we all work for a charity (and therefore get paid peanuts) and I also just sling my stuff in the boot of my car on my way to work, pop my tent in the changing room and spray away! Its great and everyone looks and feels sooooo much better! Its amazing what a tan does for morale! Lx

I totally agree with this - I charge £15 for a full body tan. People are amazed that I'm so 'cheap'. Then when I tell them it's not cheap - it makes sense for people who are gettin tans every week. Angelina is right, we are trying to steer people away from the whole sunbend thing, so making spray tans affordable makes sense. but as she also said, it depends where you live and I agree that mobile geeks should charge a bit more.

when I do parties I charge less per person as they are all in the same place, no travelling about, only need to set up and pack away once etc, so if I were in a salon I'd charge less too!

I think people are happy to pay 20 per tan for a mobile service, it saves them travelling to the salon, sometimes parking charges, they dont have to drive home afterwards and can just lounge about in a dressing gown, plus a lot of ladies don't feel comfortable going to a salon.

The fact that it is not dangerous, doesn't age you, is instant etc is enough for most people - why should it be cheaper?? To get an equivalent tan on a sunbed would cost you at least 20 - 25 pounds, over a longer period, plus it wouldnt last any longer if you didnt keep it up than a spray tan does, you also have the risks that go with using sunbeds

It's like saying that people who offer L&P should do their sets cheaper because they dont want people to go to NSS salons!? If anything they charge more for a decent set of L&P and try to educate people to the dangers of NSS.

I charge £25 mobile and £20 in the salon, and I've had 7 today. At £10 a tan I'd have to see at least 17 people to make the same money...

There is a place in town (and I live in quite a poor area) that charges only £12 per tan, but no one goes there. All my customers say they come across as too cheap...and something must suffer, be it service or result.
