Just did another tan and no zebra lines I only had it at a quarter turn did the couch roll test started and half turn and worked my way down and seemed fine did not blot through.

Though when spraying on my sis in law it seemed to be quite wet and I ended up using 100ml's OMG..... I have another tan this week to do and have 2 for a wedding the weekend after.

Just glad that today was just practice.....What am I doing wrong I have the T200 which is very simple to use. Or am I just really rubbish at it (it's ok I am laughing about it too) but to use 100ml and I have never really used that much before only really 50mls .... I am pulling the trigger right back on the quarter turn as I did with my trainers machine. I will speak to my trainer but for some feedback from you guys would be great.....

Just want to get it so right before a paying customer this week.... I have had good advice before from here and have followed it but I seem to be getting worse....:irked:

Any help much appreciated x

how far away have you got the gun from the skin i spray at about a foot away and follow the contours of the body if your further away then there is loads of waste overspray that doesnt make contact
your gun has spray pattern adjustment on the front where the solution comes out i find it best to be set at 6 o clock for the best results
it gives a wide but narrow pattern, hence no zebra stripes,
the t200 needs to be screwed all the way in but dont over tighten it as the needles bend!! then unscrew just less than half
you should get between 15to 18 tans from a litre when you start off but over time and as you develop your technique its possible to get 20+ depending on body size

Well I have been spray tanning over 7 years and I still get days when I use 100ml and think WTF!?! lol! Sometimes it dosn't matter how experienced we are we can get hiccups like this.

Your Gun is either too high, not set to the 6'0 clock position as mentioned above, or your applying over and over again on the same areas perhaps because the area you work in is not so well lit and you can't see the solution going on the skin.

The latter is the most common I come across with new tanners if the guns set right. Its a confidence thing and if you can't see the tan leaving a brown guide colour we think it hasn't gone on so we go over again to make sure.

Your technique is probably right, so long as their is solution coming out the gun and the tissue test is correct (damp on front, dry on back) and your guns set right then do your routine (go over twice if needed but make the second a quick blast) and then see how it develops.

I spray about 30 cm away from the body but this can vary on your gun settings too.

Hi Steve, thanks for your reply, I am spraying about hand distance away a wee bit further away when at face.... I also have the pattern set to 6 oclock and use it up and down ways....i did think i screwed it all the way to stop point then opened it to half turn then turned it down to say 15 past .

Should I be easing of the gun? rather then pulling the trigger right back?

sorry for all the questions but thank you so much for your helpx

Thanks Kate, you know when I was doing the tan I did say to my sis in law that I needed a head lamp as the lighting was quite bad.....

Thanks for your advice

I know I sound like I am stuck on repeat BUT when you do the couch roll test, ensure that you spray at the speed YOU WOULD spray your clients, not too slow or too fast simply for the purpose of the couhc roll test as the equation is speed+output setting+distance from body=perfect tan

Hope that makes sense

Hi Denise,

I live in Glasgow, not far from you. If there is anything I could do to help you let me know. I don't use the same machine as you but still if you wanted a hand to get it to the right setting. Also once i got my setting exactly how I wanted it, I marked it with a wee bit of nail varnish.

Hope you get it sorted, if not I don't mind lending a hand esp as you don't want to be using that amount of solution for one tan.

Thats really nice of you. Thank you very much ... I have one more practice before I go live so if It goes pear shaped again I will let you know.. Thanks again x

I do think that a lot of people use too much solution because they want the guide colour to be dark.
Some solutions have no bronzers in so you just have to see where it is glistening as there is no guide colour. As long as you can see it glistening then you know you have covered that area. Same with solutions with bronzers, if it's glistening it's covered. You don't have to keep going over it to make the guide colour darker, the tan will develop the same whether you go over once or twice.
I actually hold my gun 6 inches away.
I agree with Kate, i have done hundreds of tans and i will still now do the odd one and think 'oh my god how did i use that much solution'.!
It's all just trial and error and getting used to holding the gun.
I remember when i first started and i used to think 'oh i'm just not getting this right and i'm using too much solution', but you do get there :)

your obviously doing it right what i meant to say was dont come further than a foot away a hand length is fine though like angellina said your probably overlapping/respraying and there is no need she really knows her stuff
the lighting is really important thats why STC have changed the pop up cubicle design now to a clear roof design and the copy tents now have windows

who did you do your initial training with?

She did her training with Tantrick. Try giving your trainer a call and getting her to go through any problems you may have :)

mmm me had a bit of a feeling it was...so lets get you confident and up and running...training doesn't end on the day...contact your trainer and ask for help and im sure it will be there for you.

Alternativley our head trainer Louise is doing training in Glasgow second week of October...there's a free seat booked for you if you feel this will help you.

Alternatively...give me a call Monday and I will happily talk you trough any areas you feel you need further help with.

Oh and don't worry...we tend to find that those we train who maybe take longer to grasp things actually turn out in the long term to be pretty perficient technicians

This kind of sounds obvious, but is actually a really good and important point. Hmm, I'm actually sitting here now thinking oh c**p, do I do that? lol.
