Hi everyone.

I have a few questions/problems.

I sprayed 7 people lastnite (friends) just to get some practice!

These are some of the faults I have had back so far:

The tan hasnt come out that dark - cant notice it that much. I used an 8%. Does that mean I didnt spray enough on.

Back was darker than front - I am taking it that is entirely my fault - I am thinking maybe I was being a bit too cautious?

One hand darker than the other - also my fault. How can I improve.

Bit patchy

These are some of the things I noticed with my machine:

It seemed to be leaking out of the top of the pot and also coming out abit at the top of the gun (not where it sprays out from).

On about the 6 person it seemed to be 'spitting' abit - well I dont no if that is the right word - but on the skin it looked 'speckly'.

This is the report I have back so far from some people - I have told them all to pick otu even the tinyest of faults as I need to know what to work on.

But please give me some answers - especially to my machine.

Also I didnt no what end to put the nozel - connecting the machine to the gun? It says the stiff end - they both seemed stiff to me.

I have the minimist mobile - Just wondering if the nozel for that is the same both ends??

As regards your hoze - the harder less flexible end goes into the minimist machine and the flexible end gets attached to your gun. The minimist will get quite hot so the harder end is I believe insulated for this.

Talk us through your procedure for tanning - did you do the one coat? Have you actually seen the end results yet or are you going off what was said? did you try adjusting your spray? How wet did the spray appear when it was applied.

When did you do your training? It will get better with practice, dont worry.

Do have a look at the people you did and see for yourself how they look. Dont forget the 8% is one of the lighter sprays and perhaps you were a little too cautious in places.

Hi everyone.

These are some of the faults I have had back so far:

The tan hasnt come out that dark - cant notice it that much. I used an 8%. Does that mean I didnt spray enough on. Depending on their skin type, you may have been better using 10% on some. Remember if they don't burn and tan straight away 10% for them

Back was darker than front - I am taking it that is entirely my fault - I am thinking maybe I was being a bit too cautious? Might have to do with their skin being dryer on their backs?

One hand darker than the other - also my fault. How can I improve. Just do a very light spray on the hands. I do the hands in three sections, to the right, middle and left and remember very light!

Bit patchy If it's patchy may have been something on their skin, if anything it would be stripey not patchy, if you had done something wrong with your application.

These are some of the things I noticed with my machine:

It seemed to be leaking out of the top of the pot and also coming out abit at the top of the gun (not where it sprays out from). Make sure your gun is always straight and don't have it at an angle. Solution will come out of the top of the cup if you tilt it.

On about the 6 person it seemed to be 'spitting' abit - well I dont no if that is the right word - but on the skin it looked 'speckly'. Means your solution was coming out too much meaning it was too wet. Test on a bit of kitchen roll before each client. You'll see it should be a light covering on the kitchen roll but not wet, therefore you use less solution and it dries quicker on your client.

This is the report I have back so far from some people - I have told them all to pick otu even the tinyest of faults as I need to know what to work on.

But please give me some answers - especially to my machine.

HTH and at least you never had problems with their feet, that's the usual place!

Hi Hayley,
good to see you are at the stage of giving it a good go...more of this and you will be truly on your way

Some fantastic thoughts for you from Theresa (thank's) and hopefully much more support to come in yet for you.

Just a reminder...whilst it's great for you to post your questions as this does help others..don't forget you also have your trainer behind you to also guide you through all the different phases you will be going through in becoming an expert.

The main factor in being a success is one of being confident, willing to ask, listen and have a go.....you certainly seem to have these qualities so only a matter of time now.

well done and keep up the good work

Hi everyone.

I have a few questions/problems.

I sprayed 7 people lastnite (friends) just to get some practice!

These are some of the faults I have had back so far:

The tan hasnt come out that dark - cant notice it that much. I used an 8%. Does that mean I didnt spray enough on. if they have the skin type to take an 8%, then perhaps you sprayed too lightly, or was the liquid actually being sprayed out atall? maybe they already had a good colour and needed a darker solution?

Back was darker than front - I am taking it that is entirely my fault - I am thinking maybe I was being a bit too cautious? did you spray too lightly again over the front, did you mist over the back after doing the back?

One hand darker than the other - also my fault. How can I improve. are you spraying consistently, almost doing everything symetrical? but they could have accidentally lent their chin for instance on the back of their hand, ( i do this sometimes, to prevent getting a brown palm, but forget that im transferring more tan onto back of my hand

Bit patchy again consistent spraying, are you sure that liquid is coming out all the time? are you giving a mist over after doing the area nice and slowly?

These are some of the things I noticed with my machine:

It seemed to be leaking out of the top of the pot and also coming out abit at the top of the gun (not where it sprays out from). are you wiggling the gun about? keep your wrist steady and keep the gun upright, move down and up with the body rather than tilting the gun etc

On about the 6 person it seemed to be 'spitting' abit - well I dont no if that is the right word - but on the skin it looked 'speckly'. did you have the cup of the gun filled with a good amount of liquid, if not this can cause air locks, as there is not enough liquid to keep the liquid flow consistent, so results in air being sprayed with no liquid, also was the valve at the back turned too high, resulting in spurts of liquid after the air lock?

This is the report I have back so far from some people - I have told them all to pick otu even the tinyest of faults as I need to know what to work on.

But please give me some answers - especially to my machine.

Also I didnt no what end to put the nozel - connecting the machine to the gun? It says the stiff end - they both seemed stiff to me. i have the air hose with no difference in the ends either, i attach any end to the machine

I have the minimist mobile - Just wondering if the nozel for that is the same both ends??

2 other points that may help you:

Re the cup leaking - could you have over filled the cup? I did this at my first party as you tend to put too much in thinking it will save refilling too often. You only need it up to half way point at most though or you get problems with leaking or air pressure.

Other thing that comes to mind with the speckling - first thing too check is that the gun was not turned up too high but also that you were not too close to the area you are spraying.

It will all come together with practice and does not take too long. Good luck.

another thing that comes to mind is that the nut where the trigger is (assuming that yours is the same as mine?) may need tightening up a bit, I had some speckling and this cured it when I first started spraying.

I agree with not overfilling the cup, this will cause leaks, also make sure it is done up tight into the gun and that there is no solution around the screw on bit of the cup as i've noticed that can cause it to dribble down the outside of the cup too, has happened if i've swapped colours part way through a party etc.I have noticed drips on the floor of the tent at times and this was always the reason!

Have you done the couch roll test to see how wet you are spraying? have also marked my dial and my gun with nail varnish so that I can see how far I have the needle open when spraying, I tend to keep it in the same place give or take a few millimetres.

Where abouts in Essex are you based? I could always come and watch you spray to see if anything stands out to me that you could improve on

hi iv been using my new maxi mist and think it is amazing but i cant seem to get my tent down ha also i av been using tandare 14% it as turned lovely on those of us who already av a base but not so good on us paler is there another tan best suited for paler skins do u need a base for the tandare tans

No you do not need a base for a Tandare or any other spray tan solution on the market.

Simply select the DHA % concentrate from either the 10/14/18% variants applicable to the skin type of the customer together with how dark they want to go...of course being ever watchful of not applying a solution that would put them into DHA overload
