Hi Everyone,

I have a friend of mine who would like some opinions about a potential business opportunity.

As it seems most of us hate ironing (amongst other thankless household chores) she was thinking of providing an ironing service.

If you could afford it do you think you would employ somebody to do it for you?

What would you be prepared to pay?

How often would you have it done - weekly, fortnightly?

What other chores do you hate doing or don't have enough time to do that you would get somebody in for?

Anything else you can think of would be great. Of course, she understands about insurance & such like.

Many thanks :)

I would pay £7 for a bag of ironing once a week.

I would also love a cleaner to come in once a week to blitz the house as I'm not houseproud. I would happily pay £7 per hour for that too.

When I was unemployed, I nearly set myself up as a Girl-Friday, where I would go in the home, do some general tidying, a basket of ironing and put a load of washing on, make a meal and have it in the oven and pick the kids up from school.

but then I remembered that I am incredibly lazy and HATE cleaning and ironing with a passion, so quickly scrapped that idea.

I have a bag of ironing done every week - it really helps out as I am up to my eyes in admin at the moment. I have a nail client who runs an ironing business and it has taken off big time and she is employing several ladies and has vans collecting and delivering.

I hate vacuuming more than ironing, and I hate ironing quite a lot lol.

I would pay up to £8 per hour for someone I could trust. I also hate cleaning sinks and loos. I hate cleaning windows. I hate making beds and picking up toys and books.

I hate sewing and my kids won't stop earning Brownie and Guide badges (grrr! lol)

I hate cleaning out the rabbit hutch and the guinea pigs hutch and the hamster cage.

I hate picking up the cuttings after hubby has cut the hedge.

God what a miserable cow I am lol!

What do I like doing? Yep . . . sitting on my a... doing nails pmsl

I know the feeling - I only iron as I need things. Luckily most of the girls' clothes can get away without being ironed :)

Girl-Friday - ooh I like that.

My ma had thought about doing a making a meal/baking service as she enjoys doing that.

A lot of people doing that already round here, but I think there is a gap in the market fo calorie counted home made meals or wheat/dairy/gluten free home made meals. Good idea

Your post has cracked me up....I'm so glad it's not just me who doesn't like doing things around the house. Give me t'internet & SalonGeek any day :)

I don't mind ironing, Or washing..or drying...Or even dishes !!
What I do hate ..It putting it all away !
So I don't :green:
I pile it all up out of the tumble drier...lash it in the wardrobe..hold it all in with my foot, while I close the door on it and forget about it..
That is until one of my girls, go's looking for something,
And I walk into my bedroom to find it all over the floor :irked:

:)The first thing I am going to buy when I win the lottery is a chef...I can't stand cooking, don't like it one bit it is boring time wasting once you have stood there for hours cooking within 2 mins its gone, then you have to wash all the blinking pans and plates, next is ironing, most of my clothes I buy I make sure that they are practacally wash and wear or they go to Johnson's cleaners, next is changing the dovet on a king size bed single beds oare ok,
my list could go on and on sometimes I wish I was a guy, come home from work put your feet up read the paper and wait for someone to feed me and make a brew oh the life they have.

putting clean clothes away :irked: i HATE it

I absolout hate washing up  boring and horid.I also hate putting clothes away. But i must say i love hoovering and washing floors :green:

Personally i wouldnt pay someone to do my ironing but i think its very ideal for those who work full time and dont have time theirselves and deffinatly single men who live on their own x

I think one of my main hates is putting away the shopping. I actually quite enjoy doing it, especially if it's Monday afternoon/Tuesday morning when lots of things are reduced. I do love a bargain :)

If I've bought freezer stuff, I do put that away straight away but the rest of the bags just sit there, and sit there, and sit there.....

Ooh, perhaps that's a way to meet a new man :). It's pretty boring being single again

I hate ironing so I never do it, that's Ray's job. And I hate sorting our pants and socks!!!!
Jed always ends up with my socks and The twins just don't care if they have a matching pair or not. Abi is 5 and still can't put her knickers on the right way so I may as well save my time and stop putting them the right way round and folding them.
I don't mind anything else.

all house work takes up to much time doing nails but it has to be done 4 kids to run around. Jobs i hate the most dusting and putting clean clothes away.
drives me round the bend. I'd pay £7 andhour to do my blitzing on a monday cause the house is quite then.

oven:irked:

SNAP !!!....i hate cleaning out my oven.....:mad:...

I use to do ironing....picked up when they wanted aload doing charged £6 per hour.........if you advertise, then you will see how many people are intrested....

I also use to be a cleaner, one of the worse jobs in the world, cleaning someone elses mess up then go the week after and it was just as dirty when you started it the week before.....xxxx

Chores...what are chores?..get someone in to do it for you and live your life

Or try and be like us guy's...when asked to do something just look blank and all confused and your wife will take care of it....but dont you dare play with our toy's (lawnmower etc)

On a more seriouse note where we live we simply cant get anyone in to do the things we hate so we just split the work load and get it done and dusted (forgive the pun)...I wish there was the availibility of a company or person that could come in -we would pay basically anything!!!

I think listining to how much my wife does and how little I do realy is a chore:lol::lol:

I really hate putting clean washing away! And just general tidying, we seem to have things that dont have a place if you know what I mean? Think I will set aside one whole day next week and just be really really brutal!

oh and I have never ever ironed anything in my life, I dont even know how to switch one one! But to answer you first post, I would be so happy to pay someone to come in and assist me in house work - that way I would have an extra pair of hands, and I'd be there to make sure the pooches dont get too licky etc, so I would be doing the housework with the person, does that make sense?
