What Happens at The Event 2010?

You will be spending time with and being motivated by industry icons... in particular, a man whose name is legendary in ALL areas of the nail industry; Doug Schoon. Doug is the world’s most respected and gifted scientist within the professional nail industry. What types of professional should go?
We have worked on ensuring that all types of nail professionals are equally catered too. The Event 2010 is for you regardless of if you are Natural Nail only, L&P or Gel specialists. In fact, Shellac will rock the world of all 3 types!

Do you have to be CND/S2 Trained to Attend?
Absolutely not! If you are a qualified professional in Natural Nails and/or Enhancements, The Event 2010 is for you! If you are unsure, just give us a ring on 0845 210 6060 Monday through Friday!

Did you say 'Party'?
The Party is held on the evening of Saturday May 1st. All Event ticket holders will automatically get tickets to come to the Party at no additional cost. People wishing to come to The Party, but not The Event 2010 can purchase separate Party tickets to join us on the evening.

This year, The Party features a 3 course dinner and dancing and The Squares Awards ceremony. The Squares are our way of honouring and recognising excellence within the industry through our eyes (sort of like The Oscars, but Sweeter!).

Would you recommend it for newbies? I've only just passed my foundation course recently (october) so would i still benefit from attending the event?
It sounds good so far and im on the list with my plastic at the ready, but obviously if im not going to benefit much as a nail newbie then may be better placed spending the money on some 121's??

First of all with all the changes I am not sure if this should be in this forum, Events section or Social Groups so mods if its in the wrong place please move it, thank you.

So as the question says who is going to the Event II. I thought I would put this up as its getting very near the date when the tickets go on sale.

I would love to go but I am very very torn. Unfortunately I don't have much spare cash and there are two things I really want, both equally as much.

The ticket but then theres all the other expenses involved, travel, hotel, kennels, spends, outfits etc. I have worked it out and its going to be a lot of money but I do have till May to save up.

The other thing I want is some hat blocks, I started a millinery course recently and would love to make some hats in my spare time. Hat blocks are very expensive but they do last a lifetime. But then there is all the cost of the materials needed to think about as well.

This for me is a major dilemma because I simply cant afford both. But I am going to have to decide soon

So my question is: What would you give up to pay to go to the Event?

PS Out of curiosity those that are travelling how many nights will you be staying at the hotel?

The EVENT can be as expensive or a cheap as you want to make it.

You do not have to buy new clothes ... you do not need to spend more nights than you have to ... etc. The education and products you will receive will more than cover your costs in return.

It is very busy and very tiring too so you need to take that into consideration. You will need to be able to work well in a crowd and with lots going on around you.

I suppose in the end, it depends on whether or not you want/intend to make a living doing nails or hats!! That is your decision to make and no one elses. :hug:

I agree that you dont have to buy new clothes and stay in hotel longer than necessary, I'm just one of these people that don't like to miss out :lol:which is why I wondered about how many evenings. I know that it will be phenominal value for money, anything CND related is. I love a challenge and people so thats not an issue and it would be a great opportunity to meet some fab people and I know the weekend will be great experience just for that alone. Also if I beg and plead my brother may just dog sit, I dont like kennelling them tbh but that wouldnt stop me.

I would love to be able to work full time as a nail tech but I dont think its impossible to concentrate on two completely seperate things if you are passionate about both which I am, more so with nails if truth be told as its been a lifelong passion. Realistically I dont think I would make enough money to make ends meet working full time in my area as a nail tech, hopefully one day I will be proved wrong.

I have read posts from lots of you raving about 'The Event' but am a little ignorant of what exactly it consists of.

Please could someone explain it to me or point me in the direction of info on it.

Also, is it just for CND techs or any nail techs?

It is for anyone, no matter what product you use. I am sure the format will be posted in more detail nearer the time as maybe it hasnt been decided on yet. Suffice to say that it will be two days of kick ass training if last year is anything to go by but I am sure it will be different and new and fresh and not the same as last time. And not forgetting a fabulous party on presumably the Saturday night.
